99 Civic CX disc brake conversion problems.
Hey guys,
Last year I bought a 1999 civic CX. The car came with a disc brake conversion, now unfortunately I do not know what car the parts came out of.
Problem #1, my rear left brake seems to be be contacting the rotor at all times.
Problem #2 the handbrake will sometimes seize on the left side.
Problem #3 the handbrake cable on the right side dose not engage at all.
The rear rotors are pretty worn, so I am going to replace them.
I have searched disc brake conversions, and at this time it is my understanding that I can order any rear rotors and pads that are intended for a 1994-2001 integra , however I am not sure. Can someone confirm or deny this for me?
At this time I figure I might as well replace the handbrake cables. I believe that the cables from a 99 si are the best option for my car?
The proportioning valve, I am not sure if this was upgraded to the 99 si model. But at the same time I believe that when I was reading about the conversions it said that a 99 Cx proportioning valve is also a 40/40 valve?
Am I on the right track, or have I got my information mixed up?

Re: 99 Civic CX disc brake conversion problems.
You are on the right track. All 88-01 non-ITR Integras and 88-00 Civics shared the exact same rear pads, rotors, and calipers. Get the ebrake cables for the 1999-2000 Si since that is the same "chassis" as your year Civic.
To make things easiest on you, consider the rear portion of your brakes a "99 Si" and be done with it.

Also you probably Have a caliper locked up on the side you were grinding on, and on those the e-brake is part of the caliper so you can check the function of the e-brake while the wheels off probably bad calipers more then cables

Let's say this is the case. Do I fix it, or do I replace it?

Skill level 6/10.
So far I have changed the water pump, timing belt, valve cover gasket, spark plugs, Alternator belt, fuel filter, removed HID lights and changed the oil.
I have also worked on several other cars.
I have changed brake rotors in the past, but never anything else to do with the brakes. I have a Haynes manual which helps. I guess a better way of asking the question would have been, would it be better to fix the caliper or replace it? I don't know very much about how they work other than the absolute basics.

If that's the case it would probably serve you well to replace it. An autoparts-store version will probably run under $100. Grab some fresh brake fluid, a friend, and a six pack. You should be done in under an hour depending on when you start drinking.

You should be more than capable to replace the rear calipers hardest thing will probably switching the cable from the old caliper to the new one

The proportioning valve is the same on the hatch and si. Before replacing any calipers or e-brake cables you should try diagnosing the problem first. It could be something as simple as rusted caliper slider pins. Don't just throw parts at it.
