more info on the suzuki vitara g16 pistons
i ordered a set of replacement g16 pistons from fjt and they came in a few days ago.ive been doing some research since then and found out some interesting ish.everyone knows these pistons can handle some boost but now i know why.
these pistons are made of ac8a grade t-6 heat treated cast aluminum wich is much stronger than standard cast piston material and much more resiliant to heat!
also in maximum boost they mention t-6 cast pistons as a good alternative to forged pistons,so all of you on corky bells nuts go buy some g16 pistons then you can be cool like me & fjt
if anyone finds more info on the net please share your find here in this thread

Re: more info on the suzuki vitara g16 pistons (buckfittyone)
Im doing a CAD drawing of the piston as i type in here..I hope to take all measurements on the pistons so anyone can know more in depth specs as well as being able to calculate compression ratios.
Some general information already discussed in other threads about these pistons:
1. Code of piston/engine is G16b..Found in the Suzuki Vitara SOHC model and also the Suzuki Esteem(96-00)
2. They are 75mm(standard) and you use Civic rings for 75 mm pistons
3. They mate w/o any machining to any D series Rod or any D series aftermarket rods(Eagle,Crower etc..) **note that with some aftermarket rods block notching is required**
4. They have a Floating pin design VS. the press fit pin style of OEM pistons
*Note*
I have had some crap talking about these pistons on other forums just because they are Suzuki pistons and because of how shitty Suzuki engines are etc... I want to clarify that the pistons i sell are NOT OEM Suzuki or made by Suzuki..These are made by another company FOR suzuki engines(same as if you buy JE or CP pistons for your Honda engine, theyre not Honda pistons but made for Honda engines). These pistons have a Coating that the OEM Vitara ones dont have.

Very cool, I thought some modifying of the connecting rods might be necessary. What do they do for the CR?

Compression drops..
Y7 motor and stock head, stock HG--->8.5:1
Y8 motor and stock head,Stock HG---> 8.7:1

Re: more info on the suzuki vitara g16 pistons (fjt)
Can anybody tell me the volume of the dish in these pistons? I am looking into putting an a6 head on my y7 and I know that would drop my compression alot. Combined with these piston I would be at like 8:1 compression. I would prob have to have the head milled.

And how would the compresion be on a DOCH ZC. (It comes with p29 pistons)

Thanks for the piston code. My dad's a metallurgist. I can find the pressure and heat range for these pistons now

Well lets put it this way..You could buy 2 sets of these pistons and still dont get to the amount aftermarket pistons go for
Heck!! even 3 sets

Re: more info on the suzuki vitara g16 pistons (Blindstuff)
In my opinion id do it..but thats a matter of personal preference..there is people that want a "jet" for a car..They want the car to kick in hard low and up in the RPMs and there are others that just dont care as long as it pulls hard in the mid and up the rpms..
And well lower compression means means that you have to boost more to reach X horsepower level.

Re: more info on the suzuki vitara g16 pistons (fjt)
but will i see any adavantage in boosting 9 psi on lower compresion than 5 on stock compresion or should i wait for pistons rods and blockguard and go with about 12?

Re: more info on the suzuki vitara g16 pistons (Blindstuff)
don't use these on a dohc zc, you'll be VERY dissapointed w/ 8.1:1 compression. hell *.7 in a Y8 is even prety low.
Hey FJT is there a link to a thread from which you are selling these? how long do they take to get there after ordering?
