Problem:
When I first installed my B16 this into my car, I drove it around, noticed it was hesitating at crusing speeds. I noticed if I hit the gas a little bit, the car would come out of its bogging state and drive fine. But once I'm crusing again, (steady at a certain speed) it would start bogging again, not badly, but enough to be noticeable, so then again, a slight tap on the accelerator and it would drive normal until I came back to crusing speed. I thought I had spark problem, so I replaced my plugs, wire, cap, rotor. To no avail. So I figured dirty injectors these injectors came out of my 99 when i upgraded because of the turbo setup, they hardly had 10k on them. Anyways, I ran some BG 44 cleaner (3 can system) and cleaned the entire fuel system, 2 tanks later, with premium fuel, same problem. Also I noticed, I'm only get 185m per Tank. And standing outside the car at idle, the car smells like it is running rich. Any ideas? Here is my Setup: 91 CRX Si -JDM B16 w/ 99 SI Hydro tranny -PR3 OBD 0 ECU -Running 2 one wire universal O2 Sensors, as found in HT forum. 1-4, 2-3. -OEM B Series plugs from Honda - no patience, so I payed f'n 16 bucks a pop!!! -New Cap and Rotor -New Wires -Timing is set to TDC -checked with Timing Gun -Stock Fuel Rail -Stock Fuel Pump -99 OEM Fuel Injectors As I was reading through HT, I noticed that someone said fuel injectors from various model years run at different pulse speeds. Is that my problem? I'm using 99 SI injectors with an OBD0 ecu. Does that cause problems? My B16 didn't come with any injectors so I used ones I had from the 99 project. Spliced the injectors harness into my engine harness and plug and play from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! m

BuMp for this guy. Mine is doing this too, same setup except stock B16 injectors and stock S1 tranny. /me thinks its gotta be in the ignition system somewhere though.....BTW, do you have any idling issues which may be associated with this?

One last thing:
Motor is stock with the exception of a new air intake--short ram TPS sensor is from my 91 Rex Si Cat and exhaust are stock. No CEL's. thanks! m

Take a DVOM and tap into the upstream O2 sensor.Leave the sensor plugged into the harness. Start the engine. Does the Voltage swing up and down around .5 volt or does it stay low or high? If it stays under .5 then its to lean if its over .5 then its too rich. If it doesn't do anything then maybe you have a bad O2 sensor.

should have searched. mine was doing the exact same thing. switch the wires for the oxygen sensors. just switch em right in the engine bay. that fixed my problem

Mine does it too.. I think it has something to do with the fact the O2 sensors are probably as old as the motor.

Yeah, i don't think its the FP, like I said this thing is burning alot of fuel. I get like 185 a tank and it smells like it is running rich. Thanks for the responses, I think I'm going to try and remove the resistor box as suggested earlier in the post, if not I'm going to try and track down some OBD0 injectors. Anyone know where I can get a set?

before you change a bunch of stuff, verify that your o2 sensors are plugged in to the ecu correctly, this is very easy and will only take a minute. the problem you are describing has been covered many times. green plug o2 goes to pin c16 and white plug o2 goes to c8.

My car does the same ****, bogs if it sits at a given rpm too long (read: idling). It almost never happens on the highway unless I'm stuck doing 50mph for a long stretch. There's also some noticeable vibration when it hestitates.
But I get almost 300miles per tank with mostly highway miles. Car idles high, like 2,2k RPMs. Sucks ***, it ran perfectly until I was making a slow, right turn under normal (read: grandma-style) driving speed and heard a loud sound from the engine bay. When the car is hesitating, if I simply turn the key off and then right back on it will run fine. O2 sensor maybe?

Here is what i found: O2 sensors are plugged in correctly, checked and verfied against HT threads. All tune up things checked and reseated. All vacuum lines checked / replaced one. I did not try to remove the resistor box, because I did not understand how to wire it to work without it. I have one green plug going into the box. Once the box is removed, what do I do with the green plug left coming from the engine harness? Any have any diagrams or detailed instructions. Also, I didn't look at my stock CRX injectors physically, but would they fit into my B16 Fuel rail, and could I use them instead of the 99 SI injectors. I'm thinking I have a problem with the injectors. The car runs really rich, I don't have a air fuel gauge plugged to it to tell for sure, but it just smelling the exhaust it smells like i'm burning excessive fuel, and my mpt (miles per tank) tell me I'm using excessive fuel. Normal driving will give me less then 200, agressive driving gives me 150 per tank. And the car feels week, not what I expected out of a B16. Compression is good, 180's and up across the board. I just know what happens when a car is ran rich all the time..bad experience with the 99 turbo. I just don't want to continue running it like this. Any help would be great. thanks! m

You should take all the wires running to the resistor box, and solder them together. The four red and the yellow. 99 Si are high impedence injectors so you do not use the resistor box. Plus you would probably have to change to obd 1 to do this. Just find you some obd o injectors and make it easy on yourself. Your obd o ecu has to have a resistor box so just get the injectors

My car is doing the exact same thing as that has been described in this thread. Just recently the gas mileage has gone to poop. When I first got the car it got like 400+ a tank and then 320 was good and now it's struggling for 180 mpt. It sounds like its missing and my plugs are nasty. It has a new dizzy, so I was thinking maybe the timing was off. I'm going to check it here in a few minutes and see what is going on with it, hopefully I can find out. By the way, my car is a 90 crx si with a obd0 b16a. You guys were talking about the O2 sensor's, mine are wired together since my car came with a single bunge dc sports header.

I'm having similar problems with my 90 crx. I just assumed it was vacuum lines.
