Default Crank Pulley Bolt Stuck...tried everything

Ok i need to put a new timing belt on, just got my head back from RLZ and want to get the thing running, well the pulley bolt will NOT come off...ive tried everything, first the air gun...numerous times, didnt work. Then i tried heating up the bolt with a torch then using the air gun didnt work, sprayed wd40, let it sit, tried the air gun again...nothing. Put a screw driver in the flywheel and used a breaker bar, just broke my socket...at this point im getting pissed, i tried all afternoon to get it off, and its the only thing holding me back from getting the engine reassembled, i even put the breaker bar on the floor and cranked the engine over, broke another socket...i dont know what to do, the only thing i can think of is to get the special 53mm hex tool from honda or somewhere, but if i couldnt get it off with a breaker bar, i dont know how i will be able to with that thing....if anyone has any better suggestions please let me know before i push the damn thing off a cliff lol thanks in advance

It all depends upon the strength of the air gun. Neither of my air guns would remove my crank pulley, so I borrowed a stronger one from the shop next door and it zipped right off.

I just used a regular 3/4 inch drive deep socket to remove mine, but impact sockets would definately be a good idea.

No, a 19mm 3/4 inch drive socket, not a 3/4 inch socket.

Damn, people really need to learn their tools.

whoa sorry, ive been up for wayy too long, 3/4 drive socket wont do me any good though since the air gun and breaker bar are both 1/2

Well, there's your problem. I've never seen a 1/2 inch drive air gun that could effectively remove a Honda crank pulley. Hell, most of the 3/4 inch drive guns won't make most of them budge. I'm personally a fan of the 1 inch drive, but I'm not rich enough to afford one.

ill see if we have one at school, if so ill swipe it for a night or so, ill have to go buy a 3/4" socket, as long as it works, its better than paying the ungodly amount honda wants for the hex tool

For future referenec: Go buy a Husky 1/2 inch drive impact gun. I had the same problem when we were trying to get my buddies off. The one we got is rated at 500 ft.lbs/tq. I haven't had a bolt I couldn't take off with that thing. And the good thing is it only cost $80.

first i tried my friends impact gun, then i used his uncles snap on gun, rated to god knows what, neither did anything, with a 12 gallon 125psi tank that shouldve done the trick, both were at the highest settings too, but oh well i i dont care, its off now, i know what to do if it happens again, although it probably wont, since i dont have the "god-like grip glue" those honda engineers put on there lol
