Default 3431E PTE Turbo on Built D16??

Sup H-T!

Pushing 251whp on a built y8 with a Godspeed 50 trim turbo and I just traded my old chipped p06 for a old 3431E Precision turbo.

The PTE turbo has been sitting in my friends garage for about 7 years and was used on a b20 DA back in the day. With some research, i found that these are about the same as a 57 trim garrett turbo. But before I send it out to get rebuilt, DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE BOOSTING THIS TURBO ON A D-SERIES MOTOR?

Here is a copy of my dyno sheet. I can boost more, but i dont think the turbo can hang

I am using the same turbo on my vitara Y8 build, not done yet. I will say that you will NEED to get it re-tuned as this turbo is much more capable than what you have now. It will make a lot more power at the same boost level than a 50 trim chineese turbo. Spool will all depend on turbine housing, what do you have now, .48 or .63 a/r....and what is the PTE .48 or .63 a/r?

It says A/R 60 on the sold side and .63 on the hot.
PTE means Precision Turbo and Engine

What PSI is that at? And I assume you had a turbo already and just swapped this one on? In either case I am thinking you are not maximizing that turbo at all and get a re-tune. I would think with a built motor you should be able to achieve around 270 - 280 with that setup.

57 trim does well on d series. I tuned a bone stock d series with a garrett 57 trim a few years back made 204.6whp and 207.9wtq on 7.7 psi boost so on a built D it should be able to obtain quite a bit more

I know what PTE is LOL i was asking what the turbine a/r was, its a good turbo and will make loads more power than what you have now, get it retuned or POP the motor that simple

that's a big turbo for a little d16.

works well on the b18c, no clue where you'll come on but it flows 53lb/min

thank you for the graph Turbo-LS, I will be reving to 8000 rpm or til power cuts off.

Has anyone hit 400whp with the .48 hotside using this turbo?

You will not make 400whp on a 48 housing and you can clearly see the power stops climbing at 6k so unless your building an engine and doing a wild cam stock reline of 7k is plenty of rpm

Reading ownz you! He already stated it is a built motor, with a big cam and built head, I would rev that baby to the moon until it falls flat!

I think you should shoot to get to 400whp, with the headwork/cam you have and a .63 a/r hotside you will easily make it there, and your motor can handle it. I am shooting for 400 whp with the same turbo and a .48 a/r hotside and a stock head. I have also been told I wont get to 400, and I might not, but when I get mid 300's I will add water/meth injection to push it upto that 400 mark.

I know with the .63 hotside, I can hit 400whp and this will be on c16 or some type of race gas.

I can send this to the turbo rebuild shop tomorrow, but really would like to see some dyno chart with this turbo with a .48 hotside or possibly another 57 trim turbo similar to what im looking for

I hear ya brother! I have been trying to find dyno graphs too, but can't seem to find any. I originally ordered mine with a .63 hotside, then after some more research and talking to some turbo experts, I decided to switch it to a .48 before they shipped it out.

I hope that wasn't a mistake, but I think I made the right choice. With the .63 you are waiting till 4500-5000 rpm for full boost, with the .48 you will get it at about 3500-4000 max. It does come with the price of lower peak power numbers. I know with the .63 I could have hit 400 whp with the stock head, but with the .48 and stock head I am anticipating about 350-370 whp at roughly 22-25 psi. Like I said I will add water/meth and it will easily go beyond 400.

IMHO with your head work and cam I think you could hit 400 whp with the .48 hotside, + have more fun with more rpm's in boost, just my 02.

I ran into a cool guy today with a ek coupe y8 turbo... haha he so happened to be running the same turbo with the .48 hotside lol He got the turbo from his friend who was parting out his revhard kit

his specs
y8 arias/eagle
stock port head / im / tb
bisimoto valvetrain and 2.4 cam
2.5in dp / exhaust
ebay ramhorn manifold
claimed 384whp @ 23 psi @ prostreet on e85

He said before the cam and valvetrain swap he made 290whp

I asked him the following questions:
How is the spool on the turbo?
Great! full boost by 4300 rpm

Does the turbo fall in its face before 8k rpm?
My setup makes power all the way up to 8400rpm.. The 2.4 cam and turbo setup is perfect.

Have you ran it at the tracks yet?
Yeah, 12.4 @ 124mph on azenis and full interior last year in fontana

If you can go back, would you take the .63 hotside or this setup?
I should have stayed with the .63 because now I have to buy a Intake manifold and TB, Port the head and go with 3in dp / exhaust justto get better numbers lol

These are pretty much all his responses and even though he didnt have a dyno sheet to prove anything, I still believe him lol

He did tell me this though:
If you have a built motor, just get the .63 hotside. You will make more power and will go faster at the track because of this.

What do you guys think?

this info scares me, 290 whp with stock head/cam...... that is not gonna make e happy at all.......i think i need to go .63 a/r then, i want at least 350 whp
