Default Valve Cover Gasket

My son's 97 Accord has oil in all 4 spark plug tubes. Found this out when getting ready to switch change the spark plugs. I am assuming this is because the gaskets at the top of the tube where they meet the valve cover are shot. I can change the valve cover gasket and the ones at the top of the tube, are there any got ya's when doing so? And do the 4 bolts holding the cover down have to be torgued down to anything specific?

Thanks in advance!

edit: 4 cyl, 16 valve OHC.

Just dont over tighten. Hand tighten and then turn another 1/4 turn. I overtightened last time and had to get another whole stud.

Thanks for the reply. I'll go by the repair manual and look at it before tearing into it. Didn't know there was a lower seal.

Repair manuals suck. Bought the $20 valve cover kit w/seals. Will put that on and if that doesn't fix it, I'll worry about it later.

Yeah it is good not knowing what the torque specs are on anything on your car when putting it back together.

The Hayes or Haynes or whatever it was sucked... Chilton's was better, but still did not show the lower seal. Torque specs are easy, getting a real detailed breakdown of the engine or head is another thing and both manuals sucked...

You must have read my comment that I refuse to use one. I used one, but I was not impressed by the detail that was provided.
