Default D15Z1 head on a D16y7 motor YES or NO

Will a D15Z1 head (1.5 sohc vtec) work with a D16y7 motor for a mini-me swap?

If so what will i need?
Is this head D15Z1 the same or close to a Z6 or a Y8 head?

Any help would be great. Thanks

it will work. but i dont know why you would do that. it has vtec-e not vtec-p. that means it is very economical. not the best to sup up. but if you run another cam and tune the vtec then yea it should be better. i would save your cash and buy a y8 or z6 head it is worth the cash.

Well its going in my GF car. So HP is not a big deal!!!! But i do have the VX motor with the head in the car now but its burning oil pretty good. And I also have a D16y7 motor to be put in it. I just dont feel like finding another ECU so it would almost be just as easy to do the swap.

What parts do i need? And does any one know the final C/R from the motor. Is there a C/R chart to look at for these motor swaps?

Thanks any help would be great

ok if the VX pistions have 7.05mm dish with a CR of 9.3to1
92-95 Civic VX D15Z1 1493cc
4 cyl, 16 valve
SOHC VTEC-E
9.3:1 c.r.
PGM-FI (MPFI)

using a 3.32mm dish woudint it make a CR of 10.657796861089744to1
How street able is this? what Hp do you think it will make?
And will i need to put APR studs in? (remmber its the GF's car) but i will use it to beat the freinds!!!!

What head bolts do i use? The Z1 or the Y7? Im using the Y8 head gasket. to get a CR of 10.47698067334861 to1!!!!
What cams can i put in this motor? Z6, Y8?? Will they work in this head?
What timing belt do i use?

Is 11to1 compression too much for daily driving on 89 oct gas?

run the highest octane you u can 11:1 is pretty high but still streetable. out here in ca i can get 92 at arco. run at least 91. you shouldn't nneed after market studs or anything, but you should replace the head bolts with new ones.

Ok what about 10.6 to 1 with the timing around stock and driving it normal on the streets. Will i be Ok with 89 OCT gas??? OR is the 1.6 to 1 still too much? Is only a lillte more than a SI motor compression!!!
