Default Anyone know the exact pixels for a 4x6, 8x11 print?

I have some huge pictures that I want to print out [like at wal-mart] and I want to optimize the pictures so I need to know what dimensions that they would resize down to to print at those sizes.

Thanks.

Inches x target DPI = required size in pixels Click the image to open in full size.

OH yeah, DUH!

Now do they print at 72 pixels/inch or 300 pixels/inch?

At a walmart:

4x6 = 1818 x 1228
8x10 = 3034 x 2432

The printer will upscale the resolution to make the 8x10, generally with files from digital cameras it does a pretty good job filling in the pixel count for an enlargement. Don't however, bring in a scanned print thats lower than the printer resolution, or you will notice the picture get fuzzy really quick as you try to enlarge it.

I've printed 3MP images at 10 x 15 and they've been decent

So you suggest I just take them in there fullsized and let their computer do the rest?

Thanks bro.

It's a good idea to do the editing stuff like contrast and brightness if you have the time at home, an average walmart does like 500 rolls a week and many reprint orders so they're most likely going to just hit the process key and not look at the condition of your pictures. Doing a little pre-work before you bring the pictures in makes a big difference in the quality of the print your going to get.

Sizewize, yeah their computer does a really good job so you can leave the size alone.

8 x 10 inches = 576 x 720 pixels

4 x 6 inches = 288 x 432 pixels
