why can't i have a/c in an integra with a 3" downpipe?
Might be buying this turbo teg, but noticed it has a 3" downpipe. I've read before that you can't have air conditioning if anything larger than a 2.5" downpipe is used? Why exactly is this; what part gets in the way of the downpipe? I definitely will need my a/c in the summer.

The typical 3" downpipe won't clear the A/c compressor.
full race has made a 3" compatible kit, where the downpipe work's with A/c so it's not impossible, but most 3" donwpipes are not a/c compatable.
A friend of mine rigged his 3" Dp to work with A/c, basically he cut the Dp, and made the angle alot shorter and sharper to clear the A/c. Im not 100% sure if he benifits more from a 3" DP, with a sharper bend, or a 2.5 Dp with a more flow friendly bend.
Why don't you just ask the seller if the car has a/c?

depends on how extreme you want to go.
You can have a high performing car w/ac if you look hard enough. Full Race, and Lovefab make some of the best (imo) ac compatible turbo manifolds that allow for 3"-4" downpipes.

**** that! haha, a lot of peeps get rid of it b/c the availability of parts goes up when you don't have A/C, plus the install is easier..

i just called the guy last night. he said the 3" d/p was custom made. he says it stills has a/c and never had to remove any a/c components. i want performance, but definitely will want my a/c on those hot 80-100 degree days come summer.

Texas and Vegas are sure hot but its more of a dry hot...in Florida it gets up there but then theres that humidity that is just aweful, IMO worse then those dry states (btw I too am looking for a 3 inch downpipe w/ AC)

Exactly the humidity is what kills you. I've been in the AZ desert at almost 120 degrees and i **** you not it felt better then a day at Chicago with 100 degree tempature and 100% humidity.

why are you so concerned with having a 3in downpipe anyway? if youre power goals require you to have an exhaust of that size... then cool. if not, you can always get a 2.5 for the summer and slap the AC on. =P

I hate summer because of the humidty.

Basically because of the positioning of the downpipe, its difficult to maintain a full 3" diameter while having a sharp enough bend off the flange to go down underneath the car.
A common way people have gotten around this is a 2.5" to 3" flare.
