Well for the last year or so my alarm has been giving me trouble. Whne i bought the car it worked fine, then the passenger door didnt lock, then both doors didnt lock but i could hear the system try to lock and unlock but it just didnt move it enough. Anyway the single "locked" beep and the double "unlocked" beep still work, but now it doesnt even try at all to lock/unlock, it just beeps. What could this be? i dont wanna pay to replace the whole alarm system if i dont need to. Any ideas? thanx guys.
BTW the doors do lock and unlock by manual control, i learned the hard way by locking the doors then closing them and the alarm wont unlock it.

if they lock and unlock from the power lock switch, but not the alarm, then it should be one of two things, the output from the alarm is bad, or the wires have worked their way loose and you have a bad connection....

well i called a local joint and they said its prolly some solonoid or some crap with the alarm, they said they will put in a new alarm and keyless entry and remove old one for like 180, so im just gonna go do that now. ill post up the results. thanx for the reply

solenoid? maybe an actuator in the door, but that's only if you never had factory power locks.... they are just taking your money, see if there is another local shop that is willing to look at it to repair it, what brand do you have anyway? It would be a shame to throw out a good unit, just becuase they don't feel like repairing it...

well i was wrong it wasnt he didnt say solonoid. I just got back and it works perfect now, but im pretty sure its got the same horn thing in it, the alarm sounds the exact same, so i just think they replaced the actual unit or something and the wiring. but regardless, ive had so many hassles with that old alarm (the parking lights that flash would randomly turn on sometimes and eat battery, would work, wouldnt lock or unlock and sometimes would randomly go off) so the 170 was well worth the money, especially since before i just got it fixed, my car say unlocked everywhere i went ....i think the woman before me had ignition or something replaced casue the Acura key i have doenst fit doors or trunk, just ignition.
