speedometer only works in reverse....

speedometer only works in reverse....
Just finished up my clutch install and i went through 2 VSS brackets...but anyways
My speedometer and odomotor don't work, i know the odomotor works with the speedometer. The weird part is, if i go in reverse, the speedometer and odomotor both work....the VSS plug is getting the correct voltage, but i didn't think the odometer moved when going in reverse? Do all hondas do that?
Any ideas why my speedometer doesn't work when i go forward and i get a VSS code?

i ended up replacing it with another VSS that i know is good and same problem....why does it only work in reverse? if the VSS was bad, wouldn't it not read in reverse?

didn't even touch the wiring and yah, the VSS is from an h23 which is interchangable with my h22. If the VSS was malfunctioning, would it still read my mph and move my odometer when i'm moving backwards?
