Default Help!!! 92~95 civic pillar antenna

I required a new oem pillar antenna for my EG, so i visited the local junkyard the shopkeeper there gave me first an antenna which had a segment of tube sticking out of the surface. First I refused to take it as it was not confirmed to me that how a JDM manual pillar looks like, so he then showed me another similar antenna that was installed in a cut front section. Following are the pictures of the antenna that i bought please tell me is it a EG9 JDM antenna or not.

Regards

What are you on about? They look identical to me ... where are you pointing out any difference(s)?

No, it isn't. The EG9 doesn't use a pillar antenna, it's a power antenna on the rear quarter panel. See the pic below from the sales brochure:

The Antenna you have is a normal Civic pillar antenna for a RHD.

^^ @ deshlong

Nops I am not pointing out any difference(s) among the four pictures above. All the above 4 pictures are of the same antenna that I have purchased I am just asking, does it belong to any of the JDM EG sedan or some other car????? Because the old antenna in my car was not in good condition so I need to replace it with a new one. But I managed to find only this one with that portion of tube sticking out (it doesn't go in or out).

Regards

It will fit most JDM Civics, coupe/hatch/sedan all take the same antenna (other than the previously mentioned EG9 that takes a totally different style antenna in a different place) Actually, it will fit '96 - '00 Civics too.

It will only fit on a RHD Civic

Yep, looks right to me. They're a ******* pain in the arsehole to get in, though. Pro-tip: attach some wire / rope (not string or twine) to the cable that you pull out ... makes getting it back in one billion times easier.

Let me elaborate my question further. My car is from Japan but it isn't a ferio (EG9) in fact it is an EH8 for the Asian market.
I am converting its looks like a ferio. The car's old pillar antenna was bended and had a lot of scratches on that top plastic part moreover the rubber gasket was also worn out. So I need to replace it with a new one, but in the market I found two antennas both having that outer steel tube sticking out from the top which is fixed i.e., it cant move in or out, which is something new for me. As in the old antenna of my car there was only one steel tube/rod that pulls out and in fully (fully insert inside). Now I am confused that is it a EG JDM pillar antenna let it be from any trim version of JDM EG sedan????

If you grab hold of the tip and pull, the antenna will extend ... however, they can be fickle (ie., fragile) so I'd wait to do this until it is mounted.

As another alternative, you could completely remove it and install an OEM block-off plate. Then you can route a wire around your front (or rear) windshield, and get better reception than the OEM antenna offers, with (in my opinion) a better look.

For comparison purpose I have put the old one (on top) and the new one (bottom one) side by side.

PS: the old one is from EH8 civic, while the new one is from a JDM civic (EG8, EG9 etc)

Fully extended

(the small fixed segment don't pull out)

Fully retracted
(the small fixed segment don't go inside)

My question remains the same "have I picked the right antenna considering that fixed segment which don't go in and out OR this fixed section has to move in and out"

Yes I did but holding the antenna in hand. Haven't pulled or pushed it with the antenna fixed on the pillar as told by "deschlong"

Maybe you might want to do that then? Even if you have to remove it the total install time will take about 20 minutes max.

And if this immovable segment of the antenna is supposed to be fixed and I damage it by using force !!!! I fear I won't find other one again

OK, NOWWWWW I know what you're talking about. Mine has always had a small segment that didn't retract fully into itself, like the replacement you bought. There was always a short section that stuck out. I just figured that was normal.

^ User just wants to know if the operation is normal, grumble (possibly there aren't many EGs around him to compare ... user is overseas in an SE Asian country).

I would say no it isn't. My reasoning being that I don't see why these antennas should be made differently than any others of the same design. If he doesn't want to risk breaking such a rare (that looks identical to the old one) item then he shouldn't risk it. if it is made differently then there's nothing he can do so it still stays the way it is.

The antenna looks correct.
it could be stuck from sitting in the junk yard for who knows how long. maybe a bit of penetrating oil?

Or maybe it's an aftermarket and made that way. If so is it a big deal? do you drive around with the antenna down much? Even if it only closes as shown, it's maybe 2 or 3 inches.
