Good write up. I think its funny how everybody always argues about weight differences. I weight in at 1987 without me in it. And I run full glass and stock hood.

what's the oil capacity on the H series motor? is it more than the 4qts of a b18?
in fact... i think it is 5qts so you would have to add 35lbs plus the weight of a QUART of oil into the mix... perhaps a qt of special oil weighs 100lbs?

I still support the F22 hands down
good writeup, makes me rethink my engine bay's future - tight fit or not.

great writeup. I'll give people a link to this thread in the auto-x forum, because there's an argument about this right now.

Sweet info. Finally, someone dispells the myth.
I'll take the H22 NA or the B18 turbo, weight difference or not.

Go ahead and weight the intake manifold too, because its much heavier than a B16 manifold, and way heavier than a D manifold. Why? Dual stage runners, so its like 2 manifolds.

id put the fluids in as well when u weigh them fully assembled. i have a feeling the h holds more water as well as oil. good info tho. people do over exagerate the weight issue, but if this all adds up to over 50lbs more than a b thats a pretty big jump. but then again my Dseries with a turbo proly weighs as much as a N/A bseries.

Awesome write up! I knew the H block was about ~30 lbs ish more than a B series because my car weighs 2060 on a full tank of gas, and is extremely close to the others who have B series.

OK... a FEW MORE FACTS THAT I JUST THOUGHT OF TO BE CONSIDERED HERE.
First off... my H22 is a closed deck, an open deck will of course be a little lighter. HOWEVER in the comparison, the B16 I used was a darton closed deck... so its probably fair anyhow. Second... If the extra weight is in oil and coolant, that is GREAT! not something to complain about. The higher the oil capacity the better. I will take more oil then less any day. My friends Viper race car holds 18 quarts of oil.. has a spearco air/water single core as their oil cooler. (Landspeed car it does 250mph). The intake manifold on the H22 does not have true dual runner, just up at the plenum. Right under the plate it turns into just a single runner. ONE THING THAT I TOTALY FORGET but really needs to be known to make this fair is that my H22 DOES NOT have the balance shafts in it. I just weighed them and they weigh 8lbs. So for better clarification purposes, maybe we should say these comparisons are more for people who are going to have built motors. -Charles
