Default Respray pricing? any info appreciated!

Hi,
ok heres the deal.

i'm looking at a charcoal eg hatch,
price is right, even has low miles,
body is pretty straight(couple little dings here'n there most I could prolly have a paintless dent repair place take care of).

BUT it definetely needs a fresh coat of paint.
I'm not interested in a new paint color, I want the charcoal, thats why i'm looking at getting this car.

SO, how much do you guys think a nice respray of the same color would cost?
I remember someone(i think it was kingtut) resprayed his captiva blue hatch, it looked great, only like 600bux or so.

does that sound about right?
same color, they wouldnt have to do any door jams or interior parts, or engine bay. And shouldnt have to sand it down all the way either.

ANY thoughts on this would be appreciated, as I'll affect my buying decision.
thanks.

OH details on the car.
92dx charcoal hatch,
75k miles,
needs new front/rear bumpercovers and brake master cylinder
needs respray
has 2.25 exhaust, kn filter, cut out resonator, short shifter.
asking 2500
i offered 2k she turned it down.

I dont know if this helps my buddy had his civic 92 - hatch - sprayed lexus red and it was originally red b4, they didnt respray his engine bay - but did do door jambs *you cant tell in engine bay* - since you want oem color i dont think it would be as much as a speciality job - but my friend got the job done for 1600 ... and i believe that was cosidered an awesome deal ......

you could do the prep work and that would save money, but if the paint is very bad your going to have to strip it down to metal.

If the dents arent too bad you could bondo em yourself, and then its just a simple respray, itll probly be like 700-1000, would be my guess, unless you know somebody.

how bad does it have to be for them to have to strip it down to the metal?

the whole roof of the car has fudged up clearcoat, like its been in the sun forever.
but it isnt covered in deep scratches or anything like that.

the dents arent bad,
I was thinking of having a paintless dent repair place take care of them before the paintjob. I had that done for some stuff before, cheap, and looks like the dents werent ever there(depending on severity).

Yep, that was me. I paid $700 to get my car resprayed Captiva Blue Pearl. That was just the outside of the car, no door jams or anything. It was a base/clear paint job. It was originally $900, but I found a $200 coupon in phone book . I would say you should expect to pay between $700 and $1100 for a good base/clear job. Other things such as fixing dents and such will cost extra. Just make sure you DON'T GET ANYTHING WITH INTEGRATED CLEAR COAT.

hows your paint job holding up after all this time?

THANKS!

I am still happy I made the decision. I don't think it is much worse than a stock paint job. I had to get it painted cause the roof was faded. There are some places where I don't think the clear was sprayed that well, and some places they didn't tape off good enough IMO, like the Sunroof weatherstripping has some paint on it still, and they got some on my exhaust tip, but the paint job is still holding up strong after 9 months. I have only waxed it once so far.
