probably wouldn't fit the wheel. I know most shop have a hard enough time fitting 205 Azenis.
in terms of rubbing, I don't know. but wheel spacers are fairly cheap.

no they wont.
on my 215 azenis it says "DO NOT MOUNT IN 6.5" WHEEL" so it leads me to think, "why would they mount it on a smaller wheel?"

curse acura for only doing 15x6, would probably work with a 15x7 and the proper offset.
Has anybody actually tried it?

okok no more hearsay. Yes it will fit!! how do i know this. well I run 225's on my integra. I have stock wheels (15x6) on my DC2. and I run yokohama a008r's as my race rubber. They are 225/50/15 they do rub a little under full turn and full roll. but at the track I never turn the wheel past 1/2 ish so its all good. on the street I run 205 50 15's and they are a nice street option to.
Go with the 215's!!!

Re: Will a 215/50/15 go on the oem 15x6 teg wheel? (deepgreengsr)
Thanks for the input. I say I would have to agree, it 'will' work.
I have successfully run a couple sets of 215/45/16 with my volks during racing. It does rub a little at full lock when parking, (but then who gives a ****).
Follow me through this:
So if the 215/45/16 fits
(8.5" wide, by 23.5" tall),
and deepgreengsr runs the 225/50/15
(9.1" wide, by 23.7" tall) on his oem wheels,
then I could stand to run the slightly smaller, 215/50/15 as its dimensions are only (8.9" wide by 23.5" tall)
Only downers are there aren't alot of tire choices in the 215/50/15 size, tire rack has the sp5000 in that flavor for $108 each. I've had the 205/50/15 in the sp5000, they are decent, just too short and spin to easy, at only 23". That's the reason I am considering the taller tire. The extra width will be money as well.
btw, I also checked specs on the tire rack....the 225/50 that deepgreengsr runs are absolutely approved for a 15x6 rim.

It depends on the tire. TireRack has a "spec" page for each tire model they sell that lists rim size ranges for each size of the model (as you've found out).
Also, 20mm is just a bit over 3/4", total width difference, though I expect having about ~750lbs per corner resting on them when mounted will bulge them some. I think TireRack has info on this width proportion difference for given rim sizes.
If you were going to mount these b/c you wanted to match the 23.3" diameter of stock tires, then don't worry, as not all tires in a any given size actually have the same diameter. The new AVS ES100s are a near perfect match to the 195/55/15 XGT V4s in 205/50/15. S-03s are pretty close as well.

ADVAN A048 215/50-15 on 15x6.5 wheels. This setup is flush with the fender because if the centerlock adapter and 5mm spacer (about a 48mm offset).

I once had 225/50 BFG Drag Radials mounted on stock 15x6 GS-R rims. So yes yours will fit. Yes, they rubbed on full lock, especially on left turns. Here is how they compared to 205/50's.
