Default 4 cylinder vs. v8

Does anyone else have both a hotrod v8 car and a hotrod 4 cylinder? Which do you prefer?

Yes I do. I use the honda when I'm low on cash and need the mileage. The 67 camaro hardly ever gets driven but every time It does, WOW

I drove a 4 banger Wrangler for a six week and I have a mustang. Big difference in power. I wanted to rock the Wrangler up a hill to get it moving.

My V8 has 130hp to the resident four-banger's 107hp.

The I5 owns them all Click the image to open in full size.

I have to say it doesn't matter what engine it is, but the car in which the engine resides.

I've been driving my Civic for the last 8 years and just recently put a turbo on it. I really like it, especially on the highway. My 67 Nova has been sitting the whole time in my moms garage. Just got it running today. It has a built up 350, a 3,500 stall converter and a 4.10 rear gear. It's not much fun at all on the highway with the gearing. But stoplight to stoplight it's great. Step on the gas and your gone. (Sideways if you want with no trouble.) Click the image to open in full size.

I've never owned a v8 car so I wouldn't know exactly how fast they are...

But it feels good to beat some of those v8's with our 4 cylinder ones. Click the image to open in full size.

I don't think my Civic has a chance. The last time I had the Nova at the track it ran an 11.20. How much boost presure do you think i'd need to do that in my Civic? Click the image to open in full size.

11.20? On a 350/TH350 with a 3500 stall? How much nitrous are you running?

well i had a v6 in my Buick. and it is hard to see what i prefer. but i guess i am lucky a little i had a Buick that would hang the front wheels on slicks. i guess the only problem i have is the fact that it is a little harder to get power out od my b series RELIABLY then it was with the Buick. i know it is all in the tuning but with the Buick, all it was was a chip and racing fuel. but i have no problem with either. but i will say that there is nothing like being pinned to your seat not thrown like my civic but just pinned from the turbo huffing out 26 psi boost.....p.s. first time using spell check....never noticed it before...

Check the sig. You can't compare the two. They are both fun to drive in their own ways, even though my cutlass will rape my civic in a race. My cutlass handles (ah, sway bars and such) and accelerates like a champ, but my civic is nice and smooth and the power all up top gives it it's own feel. I dunno, I love 'em both. After I turbo my civic, I'll let you know what I think.

V8's are damn quick. But I have a friend with a 73 formula 400 firebird with a pretty damn built motor and he's expecting to do low 13's and I'm pretty damn sure I would keep up with him in my lil 4 banger. And I have intake and chip and that's about it Click the image to open in full size.

I had two plates stacked. They were either 50 or 75 each. I don't remember for sure, it was almost ten years ago. I was using Turbo Blue racing fuel. Is that stuff still around?

ah, i prefer my 4cylinders

92 accord EX 4cyl.. kicked ***
88 CRX DX- kicks *** still have but wrecked
86 Monte Carlo SS with a 350.. nice having that much power but 6 mpg sucked.
89 jeep cherokee w/ straight six... sucked more *** than jake
98 tacoma 4cyl... pimpest truck in the land.

having the power of an 8 is nice but with gas prices as high as they were in the winter.. yeah. it sucked.

Sold my 12 sec. '96 Z28 to buy my GSR. Even though it's slower, I like my GSR better. I got sick of my car breaking every week, and it was crazy expensive to fix. I think the GSR is more fun to drive, but I do miss feeling like I'm driving a speedboat on pavement.

I've got my Turbo Civic, and my 86 Mustang GT.

I drive the Mustang Everyday, because it's more reliable. Click the image to open in full size.

Mustang is basically stock with paint, and exhaust.

Honda has... Well, name an engine mod, it's got it, most likely. Click the image to open in full size.

I'd PREFER to have a stroker engine in the Stang, and run some nice low 12's on motor, but the Civic is the faster of the two for now, until it runs reliably enough for me to consider pulling the engine out of the Mustang.

I love them both... Like kids. They have different personalities, but I love them both.

WTF did you do to that thing to get 6mpg? 5.13 gears and a 1250 dominator?

I'm not exactly certain ANY 4 banger can be called a hotrod. Fast, yes.... hotrod, no.

I like my 4-cylinder but I've driven some fast V8 cars and my car does not compare. I want to get something that is the best of both words; a V8 with DOHC, and a vortech blower on it to put out over 400 hp. Click the image to open in full size.
