Default D15 re-build "better, stronger, more effiecient"

Quick question:

I have 2 motors available:
92 Civic CX (D15B8)
and
91 Civic std (D15B1)

Motor is going into a 91 Civic std w/4 speed trans (daily high mpg driver..not looking for crazy power)

Which of the two heads should I use?
Which intake manifold?
Which of the two blocks?
I will have to buy pistons/rings, which do you suggest? P29 (D16A2)?
Rods?
Head gasket D16Y8? other?

Goal is to be very cheap, so don't suggest a D16A6 head unless you give me one
I have searched and haven't really come up with much.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

dunno.
I have been running my 92 CX motor for almost two years now, and it has withstood my abuse.
The torque is not far from other civic motors, yet the 70 hp is this motors weakpoint.
It is a drivable/livable setup, but remember the 92-95 CX motor was made for efficiency, so you will not see a lot of power but you will see 40mpg easily, I still do .

the 91 dx motor, I dont know about, I am only guess that it is not as low a hp motor as the 92-95 CX motor. Maybe you can use the 91 head on the 92 bottom end for a little more breathing room and a better hp output?

good luck!

Okay im no expert on either of these motors, but if im correct... Use the 16 valve head off the std motor, but ditch the dual point intake manifold for the multipoint off the cx motor. I would use whatever block is in better shape but I dont think either makes a big diffence. I would use the y8 or z6 headgasket, the y8 is usually cheaper. You will have to convert the car to multipoint injection and get a 88-91 civic si ecu.
