a street tune is good for diy, if you have a wideband...
but i would get it dyno tuned if you dont have alot of experience... and no with a street tune you dont get a sheet with hp/tq

do both. I would do a street tune first and then clean it up on the dyno. Too bad I can't vote twice... but a street car, should be street tuned.

What he said..cept, after you dyno...go back and street tune again. Dyno is mostly useful for tuning ignition timing.

If i could only have one i would choose street tunining. But one isn't gonna substitute the other. Idealy street tune to get all the part throttle points and some boost points, then take it on the dyno, rape the ignition and clean up fuel maps.

street tune is the most important for sure. Usually car's afr will be different on the dyno vs. the street. Of coarse you will be driving on the street and not the dyno so obviously the street is the best choice. Timing should be tuned with a dyno though, but you should be able to do a pretty conservative step retard on timing until you can hit the dyno.

I think both are a good idea, but if you have to pick one, and you have the option. Do the street tune.

With a load type dyno and someone like "MASE" tunning it you will be way ahead of the game. It will be so close that street tuning will only take a slight tweeking if any. Also after going to EFI101 class I have applied what I learned and its made a hudge difference in my tuning ability. Its like having "Cheat Sheets" to a video game.

you really need both... if i had to choose though.. street is the best if you absolutly have to choose between one or the other

my car was street tuned all the way (RA VER motorsports) ... ran like a stock car. (10psi)

few months later jason (st00pid) dyno tuned it (14psi) for about 30 minutes because the street tune was so good.

i definitly would not be doing it myself - how important is the ingnition, timing and stuff that will be missed doing street dyno.

what i might do is get it street tuned and then a little late go back for a dyno tune or

thanks FI guys!

It would be best for street tune seeing as how the car will run leaner on the street then on the dyno and it would be cheaper to street tune and then dyno to clean up.

all about the dyno tune, makes your car much more reliable with a good tune from it and have the ability to see every aspect of your a/f's...overall you cant beat a dyno for tuning

and you can't see every aspect of your afr on the street? The street is where you will actually be driving the car...

Personally I ran Uberdata and currently have it street tuned at 8-9 PSI. I had no previous experience, but I read A LOT. I added 120% in the boost section and did a .8 degree of retard per PSI. this is conservative timing. After the very first pull my A/F's were in the high 12's...so I added about 4% fuel and the very next pull it was a near perfect 11.8-12.0 through the entire RPM range. I've been running like this for about 4k miles now and my compression is exactly the same as i started.

Now I just need to hit a dyno with a good tunner and work on the ignition. I read a lot and know what to do on a dyno by myself, but a tunner will do it faster because of experience and can tell you when your car is making peak power and not push it too far! So if you are low on cash or whatever you can have a conservative street tune by yourself, but you won't make peak power. GL with whatever you decide

I would start with street and then use a dyno for the finer things. You can't really replace either one, but the street tuning is what you will need to drive around, so start on that.

a wideband and somebody who know what the hell they're doing.
EGT sensor will also help keep an eye on timing.

While street tuning, if you activate the emergency flashers while holding the horn for 3 seconds, a dyno sheet should print out of the slot below the passenger airbag. At least it does on my car.
