Default 3 days at Summit

Ahh. It's good to be back in my own car again. I'm back to running on nice consistent tires, even if they are skinny 205's. The car is understeering a touch, but not enough for me to mess with since I had passengers all 3 days. Can't spook the animals too much. They might make a mess. Seriously though, consistent handling makes a car SOOOO much easier to drive. It's hard to put a wheel in the wrong place when you know what the car is going to do. So long Hoosier. I will not miss you.

I LOVE not having power steering. The car feels so much more connected to the road. I will say though that you best be in shape before you attempt to ditch it. The steering wheel kicks back hard on bumpy surfaces, and across camber changes in the pavement.

JDM final drive friggin rules. Holy crap the car is fast! I'm running out of gear in 4th near the bridge on the back straight. Crappy stock rev limiter... Down the front with a passenger is 130. Yeeehaa!

Track conditions were odd. Go off, and you're gonna get LAUNCHED into the air by snow/ice banks. I watched one Camaro get all 4 into the air, all the while trying to predict where he was gonna go next. We also had streams running across the track down at T1/2 from all the melting snow. Big twitch as the car would hydroplane through there, but in fwd cars w/ an LSD, it's foot the floor Just hang on!

My only complaint about the weekend? Got worked like a DOG on sat/sun since we were a little short on instructors. Went out 10-12 20 minute sessions on saturday, plus 5 more of my own. 6-8 on sunday, plus 6 of my own. Me = pooped.

It was nice meeting you, Warren. God knows I wasn't doing 130 down the straight! Definitely needed the seat time to get Rust Bucket #2 ready for the season. I've still got a ton of setup issues to work out but I was quite pleased considering Wednesday was the first day off the rack in months.

Now if I could have only anticipated that 911 right in front of me blowing its load all over the apex of T3 on Friday. My shiny new RRG splitter and radiator support are somewhat mangled but she'll be rarin' to go for CMP.

Nice to meet you too. btw - We got Tom home alright. Ford was Johnny-on-the-spot with the tow. They were already on a rollback by the time we fetched my car and get back to the gas station.

Warren,
I appreciate the pointers on Sat and Sun, this noobe needed all the help he could get. I could never really hit turn 10 right so my speeds on the straightaway sucked (110 to 120) with no consistancy. Still, I had a blast but after 2 days I was fried.

Oh, yea I should have mentioned that I rode shotgun with Warren and that was a frigging blast. The car was stopping real good and handling setup seemed good (water on track was a bit rough). Going like a bat out of hell, fun!
BTW, I was driving the Silver S2000 and that was my first time to a track. I was pretty happy with how I did, I passed lots of people and did not have a single person from my group pass me all weekend, I worked on my lines and braking and drove home with my car in one piece.

That's certainly good to hear. Considering that car was already on second tranny after less than 30 days of ownership Billy Ford the junior shoulda been hookin' that thing up.

Glad that ya didn't get locked in and that I got to drink Donnie's beer in his absense.
