no, it doesnt sit on the throttle body on the Ef. it is on the firewall.. has a hose that runs to the throttle body..
On the newer hondas i think 92 and up it sits on the throttle body.

What's wrong with EF sedan in automatic? I mean I love my CRX but don't want to drive it everyday. My sedan is a close, practical alternative. It's not used for power demanding conditions.

Re: Honda Civic Acceleration Hesitation... (djtech)
I bought a 91 civic from my frined for $500 because he couldn't find the problem. I've tried everything as well, and no luck. The only thing I haven't changed is the MAP sensor because it checks out OK, according to the Haynes manual, but I'll go a junk yard sometime this weedend to find a replacement.
Has anyone replaced this sensor yet? I talked to a honda/acura place near my house and they also said that it could be either the sensor or the computer...he pulled out a box with 11 ECU's from cars with the same problem...I don't want to replace the ECU...why is it only common with 4 door cars? I'll let you guys know what's up. I don't visit this forum frequently, so email me if you have any questions about this problem, otherwise I'll post as soon as I find something out.

Re: Honda Civic Acceleration Hesitation... (jamram109)
I have not replaced the Map sensor because mine checks out fine according to two different manuals even. Including the stock service manual from honda. I have changed literally everything in my car and cant figure this crazy thing out. I find it interesting how it is only at lower rpms for me, more noticeable in higher gears of course

OK, I finally replace the map sensor and it still didn't do it. It died going down the alley. Can anyone help us? I've replaced/checked everything. I'm running out of options. I can't afford to send it to a mechanic. I have an accord right now, but I would like to get this car running for my little bro. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

My 90 dx auto had the same thing, check your timing belt to see if it jumped a tooth, mine did and it retareded it so it shifted my powerband way up top, hesitated till i hit 2500 then perfectly fine the rest of the way up. TDC it then check your gear marks.

Re: Honda Civic Acceleration Hesitation... (CRXTSEE)
lol, i have that problem too, 91 si hatch stock motor, 197k miles. The timing belt theroy might make sence, except my car only does it once the cars warmed up. Its like, it drives normally untill its warmed up, or hot and then it bogs under light acceleration untill about 4k rpms and then its fine, unless when it starts to bogg i either take my foot off the gas or give it more gas. Its more annoying than anything but I know my motor is tired, and in need of a complete overhaul (including timing belt) so hopefully when I do that It will work itself out.

Re: (crxchris)
Hmmm, quick question: When a timing belt skips a tooth, does it make a loud sound? I'm just still trying to figure out what happened to my car since I heard a loud snapping sound come from the front of the car. The engine has run like **** every since. I had the timing belt and water pump replaced since then, but the problem hasn't gone away.
....sometimes I wonder if the mechanic even changed the damn timing belt or just "said he did" and took my money...
