Default Drag results tonight. Could the super ITR be weakening?

I thought tonight was going to be a great night at the track but turns out they were having an event so it was super crowed and I only got in 3 runs compared to the 10-15 I usually get.

Tonight was the first really cold night since I ran my 13.8@99 which I did in 70degree weather with 85% humidity. Tonight was low 50's with very low humidity. I was really thinking that I would break 100mph with ease and was shooting for 101mph. Turns out I got neither of the two.

1st run: I don't know why the track was so slick because there were a ton of drag cars laying down rubber, but my first run had no traction in first or second . Ran a 14.4@97mph with exhaust hooked up.

2nd run: Open header time. Got a good launch and had on of the best races I've ever been in with an old Monte Carlo (or something). Same reaction time. Same 60' (2.1). Tied at the 330' mark. Tied at the 1/8mi (both 9.03) with me trapping .4mph higher. .02 off at the 1000 mark. I finished with a 13.981@98.65 to his 13.920@100.55mph.

3rd run: Got to go up against APR's chipped 1.8t GTI with one of there techs driving. I launched awesome and he spun like crap (I trapped 3mph faster anyway).

60'...2.142
330...5.881
1/8mi...8.974@79.42mph
1000...11.648
1/4mi....13.929@98.51mph.

It was alot cooler weather with alot lower humidity and I was trapping a full mph lower. Starting to think that I'm losing power. The only thing is that i didn't get to do back to back runs. I know this may sound weird by the Super ITR likes to be run back to back with no breaks. I can start the night with a lower trap then make several runs back to back (literally with no waiting) and my trap speeds will rise with each run. Any reason why this occurs? Could my lower traps be related to me running a primary O2 sensor code even though it switches to a map at full throttle?

Maybe it was just one of those nights, but I do have reason to worry. At least I bagged a few more 13 second passes.

Is it possible that your clutch is not what is used to be?

I find that a common cause of a car getting slightly slower over time.

That's an interesting thought.... Not sure, but my clutch has been getting worse, and everytime I go to the track, I get a better time.... Maybe it's just getting easier to slip!

maybe you just gained a few pounds since your last run? Best weight reduction is with the driver! j/k

could be you needed oil change, air filter clean? Maybe it was just a bad night for the car? or maybe you shifted just a bit earlier than usual or maybe even a bit to late? Could have been tires?

So he can run the exact same times from a launch on a worn clutch but loses time and speed after he is moving?

What do you run for interior when you race?

Tried resetting the ECU?

I would agree here! I have had my Exedy in for 250 miles now and am goign to wait till about 300 something to see how it grabs, I was running consistent 14.005@99.5 all night with a slipping clutch. Next Friday I will go and hope to make consistent 13.sec passes with no prob.

I would be happ with your times, depending on yours mods. What do you have done?

Shot in the dark here....

Since it was considerably colder than previously, could the ECU have changed the Air/Fuel Ratio in response, screwing up and missing what you really needed for best performance?

Ummmmm I/H/E and nothing else at all and a 13.8, that is hard to believe. Lets here from the owner what he has done. I am sure not much more then I/H/E but 18 Deg timing and No P/S Belt to count in the 1/4.

Mods: AEM CAI, no PS belt, JDM DC running open header. I run Bridgestone Potenza SO-3's which are an awesome high performance street tire designed for handling rather than drag. They have really stiff sidewalls which isn't good for drag but the low 220 treadware makes them pretty sticky for street tires.
that's it, according to: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=294570

See above my post and below yours for his mods.

Brock's car is strong it seems, that or he's a good driver or both.

Saw the car in person and it appeared to have exactly what he says it has, but I never took it apart or anything.

I can believe it.

I had AEM, JDM 4-1/Carsound, STOCK exhaust, Toda Cam gears, Power FC on base map (untuned, making 1 hp more than stock ECU), full interior (minus spare/jack), timing at 16 degrees, power steering belt on. Hondata IM Gasket.
On Street tires (Azenis @ 21 psi)

Ran a 13.838 @ 101.81
Ran a 13.875 @ 99.78
Ran a 13.902 @ 100.00

And a few more 13's

My mods are AEM CAI, JDM DC header, no PS belt. I run open header and had my seats out.

It is time for an oil change but my car uses oil as is so I doubt thats it. Clogged air filter could be it.

My car has been running with a primary O2 sensor code so I've been driving around in "limp" mode or whatever you want to call it. Maybe all this super rich daily driving has fouled out my plugs? I'll check them today.

I have 48,000mi on the stock clutch with over 150 5,000rpm plus drag launches. Its not as strong as it use to be but its not slipping yet (that I can notice).

A 15.0@95mph. He had traction issues but i still trapped faster. It was on race gas programming too.

My friends stage III A4 ran a 13.4@104mph (I think that was the trap) with a 2.0 60' (he can pull 1.8's but only got one run).

Front seat too? Was your 13.8 run with the same weight reduction? YOU drop about 40 lbs with no exhaust on.

Limp mode is when you can't rev the car past about 6000. I don't think that is what your O2 sensor is causing. Could be but the only time I have dealt with limp mode we ran an R low on oil and threw it into limp mode from oil stavation in a turn at Buttonwillow.

Well on my 13.8 run I had no exhaust. On this run it was on but not connect to the header. I've run 99mph trap with the exhuast on BEFORE the header so thats not causing it the trap loss.

Well its not "limp mode" but its switched to the map that makes me run rich because my primary O2 is bad.

Did you take the cat off? ALso the 13.8 run had 40 less pounds which would make a big difference. Weight and horsepower are what drive trap speeds from my understanding. Someone else more versed in drag racing might help here.

But like I said I trapped 99mph back with my stock header and my exhuast on.
