Re: Tires for dyno?
I run my Dunlop Direzza Star spec tires at 20 psi and use Vht on the dyno rollers . Works wonders for me at 665whp and a little over 500lbs of torque .

Re: Tires for dyno?
You can have people stand on the door jams with the doors open for added weight. (not safe)
Bigger tires/slicks will skew numbers but who cares about numbers if you have a baseline.
Some dyno rollers are just worn out from use, and traction is impossible... so its whatever works for you.

Re: Tires for dyno?
We use a dynamic dyno. We use any street tire and there's no issues of spinning really.
I went on a dynojet once with 225/50 street tires at 20psi and it started spinning at like 6k with two small guys standing on the straps. Put a big guy on the straps and got the tires a little hotter and it hooked fine.
You just need to find some bigger friends with bigger ***** to help you out.

Re: Tires for dyno?
Once the car is strapped in place on the rollers try to figure out a way to actually strap the car down with extra straps pulling down on the car to keep tires from spinning. We used an above ground dyno so we were able to hook the straps to the lower control arm area and ran the strap straight down to the ground. This worked very well

Re: Tires for dyno?
I would rather have aids then a Dyno pack. I've tuned on them before and not my preference.
For cars with major traction issues I try position the straps so they pull as straight down as possible instead of straight out. Takes a few extra things to do this though and it's not an option on every dyno.

What don't you like about them?
So many well known shops are using them including speedfactory.

Re: Tires for dyno?
We have been using 225/50/15 BFG G Force Sports on a dynojet.
Strapping the lower control arm from the front and the rear, and using some napa belt dressing on the tires. Holds 1000+

Re: Tires for dyno?
Belt dressing, spray the rollers in front of the tires while rolling till you start to see the tread on the rollers. Holds just fine up to around 1000 that I have seen.

Re: Tires for dyno?
Do not use slicks on the dyno. Use a good radial or DOT bias tire. we used some beat *** all seasons on my car with 20 pounds air pressure on mustang dyno with about 1200lbs on the door jams and extra straps to hold 700
