Skunk 2 LMA Failure

Re: Skunk 2 LMA Failure
I just had a conversation with CJ at Skunk2.
I must say he was very professional and agreed to bring parts back for inspection. He even maintained his cool through me getting a little worked up about the whole situation. I have been on the other end of that call many times and personally know how difficult that can be to deal with.
I am going to give them an opportunity to inspect and replace as necessary.

Re: Skunk 2 LMA Failure
I have the Skunk2 LMA's but haven't installed them yet. They measure out the exact same height as my ITR piston type LMA's so I figured there wouldn't be a need to shim them. Is this correct?

SOS lmas seem to be a good choice as well. I've personally installed and used 4 different sets of lmas from skunk2 on customers motors, all without issues. I do recommend that on bigger camshafts, measurements being checked because shimming may be required.
Not to mention rocker arm float is possible even with good springs when engaging vtec above 6500+rpms or so, food for thought.

shawty, we've used these, and haven't a problem yet. If you're worried, just check them every so often. I'm not sure about shimming the lma's with bigger cams. They seem to have decent pressure out of the box, and I don't know about them binding up after shimming for a bigger cam.
