Default Outer tierod "balljoint" kept spinning...why.

Was helping my friend with his teg we took the knuckles off to do the BJ/wheel bearings. Point is when we went to put the nut back on the threaded part kept turning nothing was stripped or bent, this happened to me a few times when I owned a civic/integra. just wondering why it happens doesn't just happen with the tierods I've had the lower and upper BJ's do it too.

Just get worn after a bit. I mean it's a ball and socket hence "balljoint" use a pry bar to add tension so the ball won't spin as easily and if using an impact bump it repeatedly rather than constantly spinning, makes life a lot easier

The threads stretch or there may be a burr or some rust on there.

Grab the non threaded part with vice grips. Don't tear the boot. Impact a good condition nut (with the right threads, obvi) up and down a bunch of times to "recut" the threads.

Now put it back in the spindle and the nut will go on smooth.
