Default 00 civic keyless entry problem (solved)

Hi guys

I just brought a 2000 Civic. I love it except the keyless entry won't work. I've been told by the seller it is because the battery on the transmitter. I changed the battery on it and it still won't work.

1. when i press any button on the remote, red light on the remote flashes but no response from the car side.

2. power lock on the driver door works perfectly: lock and unlock all four doors.

3. I tried to reprogram the keyless by on and off the ignition four time and press lock every time it 's on. I am sure i did it correctly but still no respond.

4. It came with the stock radio. radio works fine.

5. I checked the kick panel, the receiver is there!

6. One more thing, the car came with a security system handbook. Both the model for the transmitter and radio are different from the car.
The transmitter I have doesn't have a option button and the radio I have doesn't have a valet switch. The handbook refers to a transmitter with option button and radio with a valet switch. Is there anything to do with the nothing working keyless ?

7. please help !!! any thoughts ?

What Civic trim?

The transmitter is correct for a 99-00 Civic.

Have you checked fuses 51, 30, and 14?

There are also control unit input tests that can be done with a multimeter.

1. the Vin# contains EJ6, i'll say it is a DX

2.fuse 30 and 14 check out. don't know where to find fuse 51. can't find it in the manual

3. I don't have a multimeter and I don't even know how to use it. but I did disconnect the unit and make sure it is properly connected.

EJ6 ---> it's an LX

Under the hood

You'll find nifty fuse box diagrams in the FAQs sticky.

If the problem is not as simple as a blown fuse, then you need multimeter -- less than $10 at Harbor Freight Tools

Do the input tests below. If you have any specific questions, post them.
