Get the code?

Without that we are guessing.

My guess, which I don't like doing, is the drivers side seat belt latch is not making good contact. Many have been able to clean the latch and get the code to clear.

I thought the code only shows up on yellow CEL's and not red SRS lights.

SRS codes can be read by a few different methods. A quality scan tool, unless you do this for a living....prob more than you want to spend. The 6th gen OBD-II cars still have the means to "jump" the service connector to retrieve codes (MIL, SRS and ABS).

D4 or D is for the auto trans...the gear that you normally have the car in when driving forward down the road.

Remember that seat belts have long warranty with auto makers.

thanks guys.
I just did the jumper to reset the light.
the light came back on.
so next I did the jumper for the diagnosis.
jump on the obd2 plug, #4 and #9
code:9-3
* Faulty Driver Seat Belt Buckle Switch

is there a recall on this?
can anyone verify this?
I thought that there was one but I cant remember.

You could try to bring it to the dealership and have them cover it as it's related to the safety system, which is covered for the 'useable life of the car'. But my guess is for a ~14 year old car with whatever mileage they're probably going to want to have you pay for the part.

You could call and play somewhat dumb and ask and see what they say....I had a friend with the same car and he took it to another dealer. His was the seat belt buckel and they replaced it for free, if mine is the same will you do that?

yeah I called the dealership and Honda America. they said that if its the sensor, they do not cover the issue even if its in the actual seat belt buckle.

the only recall there is in the past was the opds module. even with that it was not the code 9-3. the code it would have thrown was like 15-?? something. that module recall is also out of range. they did it for only 10 years. so for a car that is from 2001, it ended in 2011.

the problem with playing dumb would be that I need to bring in the car and have an inspection done by them. the inspection would be charged to me when they find out the 9-3 code.

Ok, get out the wd40 and a rag and go to town on the latch. Clean it up, work the latch (car off) clean some more. Here is one example from a 7th gen http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=70543

Wipe it up as best you can and see what you have from there. Again, many have cleaned these and got them working again. Over time dirt and whatever get inside there and cause a bad connection.

Or seach a bone yard or two and see if you can find one with the same color (if that matters to you) and grab it - you can use something like "car-part dot com" to aid in the search.

Last go to the dealer and pay the ~$60 for a new one and call it a day.
