What's it worth?

97 LX sedan w/ 96 b18b swapped, extremely poorly, didnt pass smog. I mean, the ecu is sitting there on the passenger side floor lol. a breather on the valve cover, missing the timing cover, a bunch of wires hanging around from a foglight install. The engine hadn't been run in months, and took about 20 seconds of cranking (he didn't wait for the pump to prime, though) before it started. When it did, it choked backfired for a few seconds but then ran pretty good.

car was obviously front end totaled, the body was re-painted and most of it is peeling off. The front body panels are all white, and the engine bay was spray painted orange.

it has cheap-looking LCAs and coil overs, dropped with no gap between the fenders and wheels. Has ugly painted rims. Oh and the rear passenger side 1/4 panel was repaired, poorly. The bondo cracked off in big *** chunks

I was honestly thinking less than that. Trust me, you dont wanna see it. It'l hurt your eyes. Peeling green paint, bondo, white front end, orange engine bay, 2.5 inch long lug nuts, 2 inch blocks for the hood so the rear of it sticks up, mess of wires under the hood.

interior was pretty clean though.

Well, why don't you buy it and just part it out? Potential to make 2-5 times your money back. How good/bad are the tires? Compression test that engine. Could be worth a few hundred alone.

they're snow tires lol. There's no market for b18bs around me, there's alot of supply and no demand. I'd say the biggest value in the car is the body panels and interior Lol. The radiator support looked straight so idk if there's frame damage, it was probably fixed at a body shop. I would think it should be worth the 1500 sticker price if the engine swap didnt look so unprofessional & fail smog. Idk, ima call him this week and see how flexible he is since I'd place value on it at three fifty. Front end totaled and poorly engine swapped.. Barely worth more than scrap I think

At least $100 per rim in that condition. Quality of tires will increase the price as well as having all the center caps in good condition.

Not really. Wheel prices are fairly static, regardless of what tires are on them. All that matters is if the tires are good, or bad. With good tires, $150. With bad (or no) tires, $100. OEM wheels are simple like that.

i have an extra set of 195/50r15 brand new firestone tires that havent been put on and a variety of geostar falken and nexxen tires on the rims atm just playing around. 1 rim has a small spot from curb rash about 1/2 in long. other than that they have perfect color and clear coat. i hav ebabied these rims as i have the paint job on my car. im just asking for an honest opinion on what people are actually buying them for these days in a 9.5-9.7/10 condition with brand new firestone tires. paid $487 for the tires brand new

Read what I just posted. Your question has already been answered. No one cares what tires are on them.

i get what you were saying. but you dont think that the condition of the rims and a full set of brand new tires would add to the value?

tires are like cars, once someone buys them they to way down in value. I have bought rims before because it was cheaper than buying tires for the rims I already had. if you care that much, get the tires unmounted and sold separately. But a tire that isn't being sold by a company is still only gonna be worth like $40

$30-$40 wouldn't be worth my time. Knock yourself out.

On the rim? No. All that means to me is I have more time to wait before I get new tires. But that doesn't prompt me to spend any more money. Unless maybe they were brand spanking new tires. But even then, not much more. When I sold my Enkeis I had a brand new unmounted set of tires that I sold with the rims/tires as a package and was able to recoup my money. I didn't even consider the tires on the rim worth anything even though they were relatively brand new. And I paid for them! Once they're mounted? Not so much. People need to stop thinking that somehow you're adding value to something like a car or car parts. They're depreciating items, not investments.

cars can be investments, not so much Hondas though. You actually can profit so long as you're a complete and utter *******/scumbag or lucky. On the bright side Hondas hold their value better than anything else.

We're talking about 20 year old cars in some cases. And in many case old and busted. They aren't classic or rare. Any money that you make may be nickel and dime level in most cases. And this case we're talking about tires on rims adding value that you can recoup.

Unless they're rare, like discontinued and sought after rims, they're gonna be like buying a car. As soon as you buy them, atleast 1/3 of the value goes away. Even if you dont use it. Tires are the same thing, except even worse because they'll dry rot.

"used", even in 'unused' condition, drastically reduces the value of most things automotive related, from cars themselves to wheels and tires.
