92-95 civic kill switch fail help find issue
DX 93 hatch auto to manual conversion. so I thought hey maybe I could connect a kill switch to these two cables (Thick Black white and Thick Black red)
I thought this since they connect either way
not my picture took it out of another thread
I had them soldered together for a while to drive, but when I put in a 25A push button and tried to turn the key smoke came out of somewhere.
what did I burn/damage?
I know I should have put a relay but what else can I say tried to take an easy way :/

So what kind of chevelle is this?
Car information makes life a lot easier for people to help you. Beyond knowing it's a Honda, we have to assume it is between a 1992 and a 2000. And assume it's a civic, then we have to guess if it's a CX, DX, Si, and LX or maybe it's the VX or is it the Ferio from overseas?
General rules is full car information is disclosed within your first post in the Tech forums.

I could be totally mistaken but the black plug looks quite similar to an anti theft system I remember from the 90's where you plugged an electronic "key" into so the car would start.
That has a few more connections than the one I had in a toyota pickup but it looked a lot like that. Don't remember the name.

^^This. These were common in the 80's and 90's. Really it was a "bunk" starter or ignition cut that used a "key" to complete the circuit to enable starting.
I used to install these for dealerships back in the day and they're stupid simple.
In OP's case his plug has 6 terminals/wires but only 2 of them are actually used. Those 2 wires are gemerally tied to each side of the cut starter wire on the ignition key harness. The "key" for the plug is a plastic handle with a rectangular circuit board that slides in and completes the circuit.
Dealers were supplied with a bypass "key" so vehicles could be moved on the lot or test driven. This bypass key was thae same as the security key except it didn't have the handle. That bypass is visible in OP's last picture.
You should be able to follow the taped harness up to were it's tied to the cars harness. These genarally aren't very stealthy which is why they aren't used any more. Disconnect it and reconnect the cut factory wire.

Lol
Well i took off the bypass key and it looks/smells burnt. It doesn't look like it will stop if from working I could be wrong take a look.
Is there a way I can fix it instead of removing it ?
