changing valve cover gasket
I bought a new valve cover and gasket for my car. I am just wondering the tools I need and if I need to apply sealant? And if I do what are some good brands to buy for the sealant. Thanks!

Re: changing valve cover gasket
if you are using OEM seals, you don't need any sealant. And as far as tools, a 10mm socket, racket and... that's about it. If you torque the nuts correctly, it the right order, it shouldn't leak.

Re: changing valve cover gasket
Which series of car? 92-95 or 96-00?
Ether way, fliptard is incorrect, Hondabond is recommended in the 90 degree angles of the gasket typically so 4 points on the gasket, 2 on the timing belt side and 2 points on the distributor side. Permatex "The Right Stuff" grey is the same thing as Hond Bond and is cheaper per oz than Honda Bond.
Below is the FSM page for the 92-95 series for the D16Z6 but is the same valve cover torque spec of 7 ft-lbs and the same points for Hondabond for all 92-95 motors, I believe the 96-00 is pretty much the same as for where to put the Honda Bond:

IV been told to use automotive silicone before, mostly in the corners, and lightly brushed around the whole thing.
absolutely make sure not to over tighten the nuts, or they will become useless.
