Default new battery-new starter-no start

Hello All,

New battery, new starter. When I turn the key, lights come on the dash but no click, or crank. I can hear the fuel prime so that's not the issue and the fuel filter was recently replaced. Checked the fuses and didn’t see any problems. Before replacing the starter I would get an occasional crank but no start. Now, not even a crank. The indicators before the new battery and starter were, the wipers moving slowly and the electrical would shut down and come back on while driving. Weird. Could it be the alternator?

Thanks,

I would check fuses and hit the starter with a hammer to see if that helps (no joke). If not always check, disconnect, and clean all grounds.

What year and trim of car, any mods?

No car information makes it even more challenging to provide solid information. Also is it a manual or automatic transmission?

Del Sol 1.5L 1994 automatic. Had the salvage parts guy test the starter in front of me before buying it. My wires from battery to starter look good. The fuses in the engine look good. I have a multimeter. What do test on the starter to confirm power from battery? The S terminal and what else?

Either clutch relay switch or ignition, you can jump the switch to test.

Also try to bump start the starter directly from the battery.

Other then that, do you have an alarm?

Sounds like clutch switch though

You know, I do have a alarm system. The auto repair shop disconnected or pulled the fuse because it would not disengage. I drove the car many miles after that with alarm disengaged. Also, my Del Sol is an automatic. Would it have a clutch switch?

Thanks
