Re: 2014 race videos
nice video Spence! You guys (red and white team) looked great out there this past weekend.
I got some pics of you and Casella from the Sunday race that I will post. Looks like you had an off at some point, but it didn't slow you down too much. Keep on keepin on!

Re: 2014 race videos
I can finally post videos this year! This was only my second time out with the car, still making changes to get it up to speed. Wasnt my best run, but it was my quickest clean run.

I assume you are OK? I saw your arms and wonder about cage contact. Amazing how the thing skated a bit up so high.

Re: 2014 race videos
yeah our driver was fine. little shaken up. torqued his back a bit. I think one of the bigger sore spots was his right ankle from kicking the column support that goes down by the shifter.
The arms did get some crazy action. A right side net would help with that. He was going around 90mph when he caught air. First impacted the right front.
If the curbing at Pacific Raceway wasn't so high in turn 5 it would have been a normal spin. Rotating in the 2ft of air is what did him in.
I love that track but when it goes wrong it really goes wrong. Hope someday it gets the updates it deserves. They have recently repave some of the corners so maybe its in the near future.

Re: 2014 race videos
The s2000 IMO is much easier to threshold brake (especially with ABS). I am still trying to find the right level with the civic and lock up too much. I certainly don't have a hard pedal like the s2000. The civic has plenty of brake, but I don't seem to sense I can be as consistent as I can in the s2000.

Re: 2014 race videos
Had a crazy weekend at GingerMan... lots of car issues to sort thru and the worst being losing a quart of oil to the catch tank every ~7laps? And then dropping oil pressure in left handers. I expected to get maybe 8laps this race and have to pit but we overfilled the **** out of it and made it to the end.... brakes were out also u can see lots of pumping. Got to battle with my buddy in the CRX and team up to knock out the SRFs. Enjoy.

Re: 2014 race videos
Great video and driving. I actually liked seeing the Corvair at around the 2:30-3:00 mark. Looks like a Yenko Stinger or a replica. Cool seeing it on track. I had a 1965 Corvair Corsa (140hp engine with four 1 barrel carbs - two per side) with 4 speed as one of my first cars. For the Corvair that is in your video - any idea - was he running the four 1 barrel carbs, triple webers, fuel injection, turbo(s), or ? The Corvair had a flat fan on top of the engine, so the fan belt had a 90 deg turn (and the fan belt siometimes would come off), but there was a kit to retrofit a Porsche vertical fan, so hopefully they allowed the vertical fan retrofit. I think that the Yenko Corvairs used to be in the SCCA DP class, but what class are they in now? - Jim

Re: 2014 race videos
One of the interesting modifications you could do for a Corvair, was to remove the rear mounted flat 6 engine (164 cu in for 1965-1969 models), and drop in a Chevy V8 (327, 350, or 427) into the back seat area, and then turn the trans axle around and install two additional spider gears, so you ended up with a V8 mid engine car. The car in the video looks like a Yenko Stinger/replica though, so probably the standard engine with bigger carbs, headers, etc. - Jim
