'09 Fit: Headlights always on?
I noticed that on my '09 Fit my low beams do not completely turn off, even when the light switch is turned to OFF.
When the switch is the OFF or in "Interior Lights" position, my headlights are extremely dim.
When I turn the headlights On, they are at normal brightness.
Is this normal?
If not what could the problem be?
Thanks.

I believe the reduced headlight output you are describing is the effect of the DRL (Daytime Running Lights). The situation you explained is completely normal for your headlights.

Is there a way to override DRL?
I headlights appear to burn out every 6 months. I am a heavy driver (100mi a day) and would prefer not to overuse my headlights and shorten their lifespan.
Speaking of which, any recommendations on long lasting headlight bulbs?

You can disable DRL by pulling Fuse #15 in the under dash fuse box. No error codes will appear, the DRLs will just turn off and your headlights will operate as they would in a non-DRL car.
As for bulbs, Philips Xtreme Power bulbs would be a good choice. One of the members here on the forum who constantly drives in poor weather conditions swears by these bulbs, and commented that they last about 5 years.
Hope that helps!
