My question is, how would it actually be set up? The torque converter would do the job of the dual-clutch setup; where do the clutches go?

I mean if you honestly think how big the transmissions are for a current dual clutch transmission, even for a single clutch, I don't think it's worth the time and money to engineer a micro DCT by means of current standards.

PDK is the Porsche Doppelkupplung which their version of DCT dual clutch transmission.

It's still all speculations still... I know GK has some very good sources and so do I but for now it's all strong speculations.

From sources I have spoken to it looks like we might get some version of it with a k20 turbo but it's not 100% for sure!

Because of the Focus ST they will need to bring something out that can rival it.

We will never see a turbo hatchback from Honda in the US. Not in 2015 not in 2016, never. They will keep making the coupe and sedan more and more different focusing on the Female market, and the Si will get less and less rev happy and get more torque. They've been making Type Rs for a long time CTR, DC5 R, EP3R, we've never seen here again since the ITR. Let it rest. The US will never come back with it.

Based on our chassis, or their chassis?

Confirmed that ILX production has moved to Acura Ohio in order to make room at the normal Civic plant.

But...make room for what is the question.

At Goodwood, they've already unpacked the NSX prototype and the CTR.

You'll be able to find pictures of the CTR and NSX soon, I'm sure. There's a Facebook companion who's there and already taking pictures even though it hasn't started yet.

If we all write Honda and tell them of our desires for the Type R, then they will have to make a decision.

How many members of Honda-Tech will write in? I will for sure. They don't know the demand, so they don't fill it.

i think hondas dont sell that good in america. of course Accords and Civics but S2000 rules SCCA... discontinued. ITR certified legend.... discontinued. RSX available 160hp or 200hp engine (no swap req'd).... discontinued. even the ridgeline... discontinued. if im selling 300k Accords and 400k Civics why offer dust collectors?

It's about listening to the customers. Honda sells more Civics and Accords in North America than anywhere else on the planet. The Type R versions of these cars would be accepted readily as the top of the marque for each chassis by the people who desire the performance that these Rs offer.

They have been talking about an S2000 replacement for sometime now which should happen after the release of the NSX... Also the Ridgeline hasn't been discontinued it getting a complete remake of it to more truck like and less SUV like.

RSX got discontinued because of the Si popularity and how it would affect sales.

Si got a lower rev limiter and more torque because of a lot of Americans complaining not enough torque at lower RPMs! I'm sure next gen Si or wtv it will be will go back to a high rev engine which may or may not be turboed.

maybe? i tend to see lots of LX and LX-V6 LOL. Honda knows what's up. Leather and full power. sunroof? alloys? all that other bullshit? Nope.

thats what im saying Americans tend to want practical cars that have large trunk room and good rear seat leg room, plus all the modern safety features. Hyundai's are like Luxury Vehicles??? WTF?? even a $30k KIA??????? what planet am i on? why not a Civic Type-R? well a $30k Kia is almost a Caddillac you know, plushed out, pimpered and pampered that sorta thing. not to mention it's a big ole' boat, eh. Civic type-R is a Civic at heart (believe me i was shocked at how small my Accord is, can only imagine a Civic) which are very practical cars for what, under $20k brand new fully equipped. even SI are about $25k right? but yet no one wants a SI when u can get a LX for $18k and it will RUN FOR 20 YEARS. yea i said it. hardcore Honda freaks will buy a ITR which will pull 10 sec 1/4 mile times after 15+ years, but everyday drivers..... Nope dont need all that bullshit, gemme a LX-V6 for added torque MUAH HAHAHAHAHAHA!

edit recent looked at Honda's site for more accurate pricing

Civic Type R engines and specs

we know it’s targeting an output in excess of 276bhp and 400Nm of torque from the Type R’s 2.0-litre turbocharged engine.

Previous Honda Civic Type R models have used the unique VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) engine, which uses different camshaft profiles to produce extra power when it's needed. This new model should be quicker and more efficient than before, thanks to the new turbo engine, but the character of the car will be different this time around.

We expect the car to go from 0-62mph in around six seconds, but still be able to manage about 40mpg. That's in contrast to the previous model's 31mpg economy. The old model had a firm ride, too, which we hope will be improved in this new model.

As is traditional, the Type R will be sold in a limited palette, including the Championship White launch colour. However, the concept is painted bright red with gold flakes. Says Hasegawa-san: “This shows that despite the car’s outrageous looks, it’s very professional. It highlights the flared wings, and how the standard car’s creases are retained and integrated into the new look.”

The Type R will be sold in a number of versions, catering both for drivers who want a more hardcore model and those who’d like to use it every day.

Hasegawa-san adds that a Civic Type R Tourer isn’t out of the question, with the same engine but a toned-down look. Yet that would depend on demand – especially from the UK, where the car will be built and where most of the latest hot Hondas are likely to be sold.
