2015 CTR Petition for USA
I know this is old news but I feel as Honda "Enthusiasts" we deserve to finally have a Type R in America. What better "R" to have than the first forced induction one? Sign the petition.

maybe we should
but as far as getting a real type r that actually performs and not some bs car with a few stickers, different interior and wheels... I wouldn't hold my breath. we would have better luck putting a gun to Hondas CEO lol

You clearly haven't seen the new CTR then... stop speaking from ignorance and actually check it out. They are designing it to be fast on a track if that doesn't tell you something then I don’t know what to tell you.

I know about the new car. what I'm saying is the global market will get the kickass version and our market would get some bullshit version with simple body and interior upgrades

I know a lot of people feel the same way you do but with companies like KIA and Hyundai stepping up with new turbo platforms, as well as Nissan with the turbo nismo juke, and the frs,brz, and 86 versions. Honda needs to reintroduce their performance lines back into the US, especially since the s2000 is no more
in my opinion Honda has gone too far from their performance roots. the s2000 was a wonderful platform and their civic si models died off after what I consider to be the last true si, the 99-00 civic si (EM1).. every version after that just seemed like a joke to me
perhaps if that petition gets enough support then the powers that be at Honda will see that we are craving a true performance oriented platform from them, hopefully

I have a couple of questions for you.
(1) If this car is available in North America only with the 8 speed automatic (actually a DCT with a torque converter), would you still want it?
(2) If it ends up being built in the USA, but it has an Acura nameplate and it turns out to be either a coupe or a sedan instead of the UK/EU hatch, would you still want it?

I don't know. I didn't configure the poll. It was Niko's project.
But I'll speculate that you're not going to see more than maybe 5,000 of any kind of Type R, if they decide they want to do it at all.
They've done things like this before. They produced a 2005 and 2006 model year Accord 6-6 to satisfy a limited demand. They only made something like 4,000 total and in 2014 as used cars they command a premium.
We know that they will do things like this if it's not too hard for them.

We will definitely get the dumb down version because of emissions. Why else have we not seen the c-tdi stateside. We totally missed out on that monster.

For whatever it's worth, I think Honda made the wrong decision and missed out.
Audi and VW have profited from it.
Perhaps, long term, Honda made the right decision. But as far as profit goes it was probably the wrong decision for the five-year plan.
