Default 04 Civic throttle position sensor

Check engine light diagnosed a PO122 code... throttle position sensor

I've read that something else could be setting off the tp sensor.

If it is the tp sensor what is a price range that I can expect to pay. I know the dealer will be more expensive. Thanks for any help

UPDATE..
Decided to do some maintainance related work that thought may fix this p122 code.
I knew plugs were shot and air-filter was due for change..also knew that tps problems could be caused not only by tps but also by sticky, carbon build-up inside throttle.
1.Took off airfilter housing and yes...throttle plate looked gunked-up and it actually was harder to move than it should have been...so cleaned it up with proper throttle cleaner and it moved much more freely.
2.Seafoamed with the spray through the air-housing.
3.changed air-filter
4.new plugs

The maintenance light reset on its own while i had the battery disconnected to do the above mentioned work.

Result....code has not come back!

Granted..have only put on about 100 klm since doing this..but have booted-up the hiway and driven city stop/go and the car has driven much more smoothly with no hesitations at all...plus no code...and it was recoding constantly after only few miles of driving b4 this.

I am cautiously optimistic and will report back after 500 klm to update situation.

If u have been neglecting normal maintenance repair ie. air-filter/plugs etc..i would strongly recommend doing it b4 changing the tps.
It would have to be done regardless...and it just may solve the code/driveability problem u have.

Let me know what u do.

What car? The code you provided is an electronic malfunction of the throttle sensor, which no tune up part will fix.

An error in the throttle signal input will set off this code.

Looking into the throttle-body..a ring around the side was evident, at the closed position..so i worked at removing it.
Think that the plate was sticking and made it harder to open/close and therefor threw the p0122 code.
All i can say for sure is the code has not returned in over 200 klm and car is running well.

Update..
I originally posted in March and its now Nov.and code has not returned at all.
Do not replace throttle body before cleaning throttle completely...its throwing code because plate sticks
