I purchased a 1998 Honda Civic EX. The engine is suppose to only have 80k miles on it. I have been noticing some oil on my garage floor and when I am changing the oil. I have found out that the power steering pump is leaking so I just purchased the seal kit for that.

The issue that I can't seem to pin point down is on the right side (passenger side) there is oil on the transmission. It's engine oil not tranny fluid. I have read about the valve cover gaskets which I just replaced and the solenoid vetch gasket. I purchased the distributor o ring as well as the intake manifold gasket to tackle next going to get to it this weekend.

Any ideas on what else it could be? There aren't to many other seals up in that area that I am missing except for the rear main seal. I would have just thought that the previous owner who apparently just put a new engine in it would have replaced the rear main seal before installing it but who knows. I have never done a rear main seal in a car before. How difficult is it and about how many hours does it take? Could I do it with just jack stands or do I need a lift?

Use a towel to clean up the suspect area really good getting rid of all oil residue. Then drive it and then take pics of the suspect area and upload them to photobucket and link to them here.
