Sputtering Problem
I have 98 accord with F18B engine. Recently it started hesitation and sputtering in lower RPMs. If you are standing and press throttle a little the RPM would first go down and then rises with vibrating engine.
After 4k RPM seems stable but there are flat spots there.
Yesterday when I was driving home I experienced no power condition in which car did not go above 3k rpm and seemed fuel ended but tank was full.
I have already changed spark plugs and wires. Problem persists.
The colors of spark plugs is light brown sooty type. I noticed the plugs are little darker on one side than other.
I do not suspect fuel pump because it can not cause sputtering I guess. There is some time a misfire but no CEL comes up.
Car is OBDIIb so timing cant be adjusted.
My Diagnosis so far.
I pulled out the spark plug wires one by one. At Cylinder 1 there is max spark and spark can be seen if you take wire end 2 inch away from top cover.
However there is very weak spark at rest of cylinders. You have to bring the end very near to make spark happen and even with that sometimes spark gets missed.
Ignition Coil Test Hatachi
Resistance between Terminal A and B Primary is 0.8 Ohms
Resistance between Terminal A to Spark Out is 25.25 Kilo Ohms and same is from Terminal B to Spark Out.
Above is at boundries of company specs I guess.
Have not tested ICM Yet.
Which way should I proceed?
