The check engine light comes on while decellerating. It stays on then, but is off when the car is next started. It sometimes stays off for days but then comes back. The car seems to drive fine. The only other symptom is a hot smell after driving. You can't smell it inside the car but you can smell it near the front of the car when you get out. It is not a burning smell, more like a hot iron.the temp gauge never goes above half and the radiator does not need topping up more than usual. Is it true that an older car like this has error codes and if so how would you access it

This procedure works on any 90-97 Accord with the SCS connector. 90-93 SCS connector located behind the passenger side kick panel and the 94-97 is located under the glove box.
