Default 2005 CR-V bad gas mileage

Hello and Merry Christmas! My name is Bob and live in CT. I am also new to this place. I am looking for some advice. But before I start here is a little info on my CR-V.

It's a 2005 model made in the UK. It has 120,600 miles on it, and is a five speed. At 105,000 I change plugs and cleaned my K&M air filter and other things.

Now I know during the winter months the gas mileage drops but I can usually make It five days back and forth to work. But last week by Wednesday I noticed I had less than eighth of a tank. Hum. So I filled it and now it's below three quarters(two days later). Something is wrong and looking for ideas.

There is no obvious leaks on the ground or smell of fuel. I am also loosing some oil. Once again none on the ground and no blue smoke. The lost is about quart to quart and half per 4,000 miles. That maybe a different problem so I'll take anyone input on my fuel problem.

Thank You Bob

Well you didn't specifiy how many miles you drove, weather conditions, tire pressure, did you feel any drag or was it hard to accelerate in the crv....stuff like that. The only thing I can see is that weather conditions can effect gas mileage, for example the wind is against you when driving and you need to accelerate a bit more to get to where you are going, another factor would be tire pressure is low and its creating some resistance. Your fuel injectors could also be an issue as well, when an even amount of fuel isn't getting sprayed it causes you to lose power, which in turn makes you step on the gas some more to get the mini suv moving.

Basicly a lot of variables that the internet forum member can't see right now.

How many miles are you getting to a full tank of gas? Losing 1-1.5qt of oil in 4000 miles is well within spec. I'm driving a 2002 CR-V with 260k (163k miles) and I'm losing a qt approx every 4000km (2500 miles) which is fine with me and within spec.

Do you have a check engine light?
