B18c itr trans fluid question
Hey what's up guys? Got a quick question I'm planning on going back to GM synchromesh trans fluid because I'm just simply not a not a fan of Honda mtf.
Okay so my question. A drain/fill is 2.2 qts and down by me GM synchromesh doesn't come cheap. Upwards of 27$ a qt. would it be unwise to use 2qt of GM and .2 of Honda mtf that I left over from last time? Or just suck it up and buy 3 qt? It's my daily.
Thanks

.2 wouldn't hurt anything just lke if you were to use conventional oil then full synth you're going on some left over and it will mix. My tranny leaks a bit so I top up now a days with MTF and 10w-30 oil lol no issues yet has been like this for a good 10,000km's so like 5k miles

Pennzoil synchromesh is the same as gm synchromesh, but without the friction modifier. just buy the pennzoil stuff and add in the modifier. will be a little bit cheaper.

put in honda mtf yesterday. pretty watery stuff, not exactly confidence inspiring.
here's the best deal i found, threw in a magnetic parts dish to get over $25 for free shipping.

Re: B18c itr trans fluid question
I run Pennzoil syncromesh and its wonderful in summer or winter. Trans has 112k, and some Jiffy lube monkey had previously put GL-4 in it. I let it sit for two days dripping out. With the Pennzoil I've never had a syncro argue with me ever, and I was truthfully afraid of what 75w80 gear lube would have done to them.
For the guys who are really want to track it down and spend the extra money, here's the gm and ac/delco part numbers for the "good stuff"
Synchromesh - GM part# 12345349
AC-Delco part# 10-4006
Synchromesh Friction Modified - GM part# 12377916
AC-Delco part# 10-4014
If your transmission is so bad you need to run super expensive fluid, fix the transmission.
Don't rely on some fluid to try and patch a mechanical problem...
