thinking of K
I took a quick look at Wikipedia and didn't realize how many different versions of K there are.
is the jdm ITR k20 still good?
I was thinking a full swap where I don't have to do any internals(im good on that after this b series failure just want to drive the car)
the jdm k20a is about 5k plus the accessories etc that would probably cost arm and a leg
what are some other good bang for the buck engine
I know theres the k24/k20 Frankenstein but I don't really want to do that just yet

Do a k24a2 swap. My 05 motor with race header put down 201hp 171tq off the k-pro base map. How can you go wrong with that for a $1000 engine.

Rdriver is that to WHP or crank?
the thing is. I like RPMs I fn love that sound of 8500rpm
even b20 with its nice midrange doesn't do it for me. I was more happy with a b16 its gutless but when it revs up its soo damn smooth its music to my ears.
b20 is nice to merge in traffic cuz it just smashes instantly but then its like well that 6000 rpm comes up quick and then everything falls on its face.
most of the time I wasn't even racing anyone I would just find an straight road with no cars and smash through 4 gears.
with b20 I don't even rev it past 5500 that's where vtec supposed to

Re: thinking of K
some of problems eith the z variants is the drive by wire throttle, ecu, engine harness and the newer k24zs have redesigned oil system that puts the oil filter smack in the way of a half shaft. typicaly you want to stay 08 or older.
again 06-08 tsx is the best oem k24 to keep oem and simply drive
research crank position sensor and use of the crv post mount

Re: thinking of K
One of the best K motors out there is the k20z3 found in the CSX Type S and the usa cvic si or sir, not sure exaclty as im not in the states.
There are only handful of k motors that have a three lobe cam for vtec. the k24a2, k20a2 and the k20z3 are the top threewith true vtec
