H4 to double H1 conversion dilema
Recently i purchased facelift headlight’s for my CRV gen II ’02, the fit perfectly only I made a mistake in connecting them.
I assumed that the H4 connector, which consist of 3 contacts ( –negative +low beam and hi beam+ ). The h4 bulb consists of two different “glow wire’s”
Which both burn separately by using hi end low beam. So I thought that it was easy.
However, after connecting and measuring it appears to go a bit different.
By using low-beam the hi-beam light burns weakly (and I measure 6v) and even the light on the dashboard burns weakly.
So I thought I made a mistake but any other configuration makes it worse.
At first i assumed that i connected the - mass/negative of on of the two light’s on one of the 2 + hi/low-beam connectors
When I re-measured white one of the lights in the low beam position of the switch, I measured +6v whiteout the light connected +12v on the hi-beam connector.
when I switch to hi beam the same wire has 12v en non on the low-beam wire
So the two h4 connector share a wire ore have double (phase) positive/+ connection??
My lights are off I’m totally lost white this one.

Hi, did you ever get an answer to this one? My prefacelift lamps are getting hazy and need replacing and I too am wanting the facelift lamps.

Problem salved!
The Mass in the H4 connector is switching from position when you switch from hi to low beam.
As an example
Hi-beam
cable 1 +
cable 2 +
Cable 3 -
Low-beam
cable 1 +
cable 2 -
Cable 3 +
From the 2 H7 lights I connected the shared cable from both of the lights to the cable witch always have 12v+
The -/mass/ground/negativ is shifting not the + in the H4 connector.
