99 d16y7 civic no start
I have a problem with my civic with a no start situation, drove my 99 civic with d16y7 home from work then the next morning it wont start, I checked the spark, fuel, fuses and its good.I also tapped the starter and charged the battery directly and the car turns on fine, but won't start up if I try again unless I tap the starter and charge the battery, what can it be?

Maybe a bad starter or the wiring to the starter is bad. And possibly your new battery is bad and doesn't have enough juice to start your car. I have gone through a couple, because they were sitting on the shelf too long and weren't being maintained properly. Hopefully every time you charge your battery you tighten down the cables pretty well making full contact with the posts. Have you used a multimeter to test how many volts the battery is giving out? Also next time you have your battery cables disconnected check to make sure you have the power wire on your alternator tight enough.

Your starter has nothing to do with it. Pull the battery and have it load tested at your local auto parts store or just borrow a battery you know is good and see if the problem persists. If it's not that then you probably got a bad alternator off the shelf.
