Car shuts off while driving
I own a 1990 Honda Accord that I purchased recently and is shutting off when being driven. What happens is that when I am stepping on the accelerator it will give some burst and loose power to the point that accelerating does nothing. When it shuts off the radio and lights on the dashboard remain on. Sometimes when I try to start the car after it shut off it will start right up, on other occasions it will start but it will give some burts then shut off again and I can smell gas, there are also occasions when I try to turn the car on after it shut off and will not even hear the starter crank or the fuel pump making that hissing sound. However the car always turns back on, it seems to me that the issue has something to do with something overheating.
So far I have replaced the distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter and main relay (used). I will replace the distributor and acceleration throttle.
Something else that I have noticed is that the car beeps when I remove the keys from the ignition switch when the door is open and the headlights are off, and it didn't used to be that way.
Any help would be appreciated.
