Hey everyone,

So here is a list of parts that has already been changed out just to get it out of the way. Ignition Switch, Ignition Module, Ignition Coil, Battery Cable wires to fuse box, and fuse box.

Now the problem;
My Accord is having a problem where it shuts off at random. I can be driving or stopped at an intersection. The dash lights up, the RPM's drop, and the speedometer does as well. The green key light flashes then goes off. I have to wait for the green light to come on and stay steady with no flicker. Then I hear a click and the green light goes off. That is my indicator that I can start the car. I have had this car at the Honda Service center who in turn called Honda to talk with techs. I did my research before I sent the car there and thats why the switch, module, and coil were replaced by me before I sent it to the service station. They changed the wires and fuse box. Immobilizer is working properly. Still has not resolved the issue and the service department has given up and told me they can't do anything. They mentioned changing out the computer, but can't find one. I have located one and I want to know if #1. This sounds like the problem and #2 can I change out the computer without having to program anything? Just unhook and swap out.

Benny, you won't believe this, but I had an identical problem. I tried a different key, and that solved it. It started with intermittent shutdowns...very few and far between at first, then more frequent...then, that same key wouldn't even start the vehicle.

It didn't occur to me to try the spare key until after our 1998 Accord LX had sat in the garage for a week. I tried it, no difficulties. Threw away the other key, got a new one to serve as the new spare.

Benny I am going to venture here but I recommend you hook up a scan tool and get the code.I had that problem in my Accord and it was the Map sensor.After I replaced the same parts you did.

hey Benny7797, did you end up fixing the problem? mine stalls out on the freeway. had the aftermarket alarm removed since it was unlocking the car at random times. i thought it could be connected to the issue, it lasted 4 days without shutting off and it happened again. already checked the ignition switch, and all ok. relays are fine, starting to think it could be an air/gas issue.

I had to completely replace the lock and cylinder with new keys. This has solved the random issue of the car shutting off losing all power and having the damn key symbol flash on the dash. I think this had something to do with the lock cylinders not staying in the On position and a combination of the RFID reader attached on top of the cylinder malfunctioning. Its been over 2 months now and I no longer have that issue.

Here is what I did before that didn't work.
-New key with RFID
-Replaced ignition switch
-Code scanned only to find cat O2 sensor has gone out.
