Default iacv code p1509 keeps coming back

This problem seems to be troublesome for many people including myself . My 98 ek d16y7 has this issue, and through all the posts i have read cant seem to get to the bottom of cause. Changed my harness, changed iacv, cleaned tb. When i erace the code it comes back right away. I'm sick with this. Does anyone hold the secert to this sword in my side. Thanks

Have you made and modifications to the car at all? Is your car autotragic, or standard?

The 98 standard DX doesn't have a factory tach. You skipped the important question though: Has ANYTHING been changed on the car? You should have a 3 wire IAC, but a badly done 2 wire conversion would cause this, as could an improper ECU replacement.

If you've replaced the entire harness as well as the IAC, there's something else wrong. I'm trying to help you figure out what that "something else" is.

Original wiring harness had splices in different areas including the iacv. The owner before chopped out the power steering, a/c, was runing the car with with no o2 sensors, my son changed the intake manifold but it still is a y7 with all three sensors. I ohmed the iavc...20.6 ohms on both sides, that seems to be spec. With key on engine not running i have 12 volts on yellow and black to ground...not sure if thats right. While running its 14 volts. Bought stock exaust will put on today. Headers on right now only has one o2 sensor, and i have the other just hanging there for testing purpose. Moer to come thanks for helping me

Also went to pick a part and got ad16y7 v-tec ecu just to see if the code would go away and just leave the v-tec code. No luck iacv code came on right away when my code checker recognized the ecu. Ive checked the new harness from plug to ecu on all three wires good continuity. My old harness had a plug for the evap canister and my new harness doesnt. That was a side note but it might be of some importance. Why in the world would that code keep coming up so fast, the second i erace it it appears again. Also changed my main relay didnt help.

You mentioned that a poorly done splice could have caused this...do you mean fry the ecu?

Seems as though there is just enough fuses under dash to run the car, could it be a fuse problem. Ther is a 15 amp under hood but its good

Definitely check the ground wires connection at the thermostat housing. These are notorious for causing problems. Keep in mind wires can look fine but be broken inside the insulation.

Did all the test procedures, everything tested good! Installed another ecu and walla...the code magically dissapeared. Thanks so much for the good info....i might be able to finally get a good nights rest.
