91 accord transmission issue

91 accord transmission issue
So Ive got a 91 accord 2 dr with the automatic, and my transmission goes into limp mode occasionally. I have checked the codes and was told it points to either bad transmission or bad solenoids. However it only goes into limp mode when the car has been off and i turn it on to start it and it usually will not start but occasionally will. no check engine light and when i go on long distance trips it will not happen again for quite sometime. when not in limp mode seems to shift and drive just fine. Disconnect battery for a while and it will start and no problems. Any ideas?

Re: 91 accord transmission issue
have you ever cleaned the prndl switch on the shifter? Ive seen them get gunked up with soda and the car loses its ability to know what gear its in? jump the obd hook up and the car will flash codes with the d4 light... that might give you some guidance.

Re: 91 accord transmission issue
Yes I have and I've tried to get a code and that was a dead end. Occasionally I'm in limp mode and get a bunch of codes but now I have no codes and still occasionally having problems. A friend of mine told me it may be in my interest to do a 5 speed swap? This last time the sport mode was flashing. I got a 10 and when I hit the accelerator it would cut out the engine at 1300 rpm and was intmittant.
