Default 97 Honda Accord EX Coupe wont start

Hello honda-Tech,

I currently own a 97 Honda Accord EX Coupe. Its been giving some starting issues lately where it would crank very slowly but then it will start up. Sometimes it will take a while, sometimes it will start immediately. Once i got into my car this morning, it started to crank just a little then stopped. The engine would no longer crank. When trying to start it has irregular clicking inside and i would assume in the engine. It sounds like a fan is moving some in the engine but again it wont start. I just replaced my battery like 2 months ago. I replaced my started a little over a year ago. Any thoughts? I'm not a mechanic but can do some troubleshooting.

Thank you so much,
Secretly, I love my Honda's.

See if the battery if fully charged, if not try jump starting it. I would also check the air filter, spark plugs, belts, hoses and fluid levels. I would clean the throttle body as well. Do you get a check engine light? I bet others can get you other suggestions.

If the car isnt cranking it might be the battery died or the starter giving out. Get a jump and let it charge after its charged try turning i if she turns but doesnt start check the crankshaft position senser under the damper.

Check your terminals as well at the battery. Maker sure they are clean and tight. If they are lose and tightened all of the way down, then replace them.

Wow. I'm surprised you had a good alternator from auto zone. That's unusual.

Check the ground cable that goes from the battery to the block near the trans dipstick. Also my experience with bad alternators is that the battery warning light wont come in until its too late. And remember that alternators aren't really meant to re-charge.... They just replace what's used for the most part

I have an 94 ex coupe. When I had starting problems, I would turn the key and hear clicking. It wasnt my battery. I ended up replacing the starter. Not too hard to do, got the replacement at autozone. Hasnt messed up since fall 2009.
