Default 00 Civic complete HVAC overhaul - how much PAG oil to use?

My Civic AC has never worked well (in the 3 years I've owned it). I went ahead and decided to overhaul the entire system.

I am replacing the compressor, condenser, dryer, and expansion valve. I pulled all the lines off and flushed them. I also drained all the oil from the evaporator.

Since I should have a pretty much completely empty system, how much PAG oil should I use and can I add it all to the compressor or do I need to put it individually in each component?

I looked in the service manual and it's not clear when you're replacing everything, what you should do. The "individual components" oil amounts in the service manual seems like it'd be used if you were replacing just individual components.

Ideas?

Calculate the volume of oil needed by summing all individual components minus the 25 ml for leakage repair.

^ Disagree. If OP has removed all oil from all components, the install should be treated more as a "brand new" A/C install. Therefore, OP should add only the amount of oil stated for the listed brand of compressor he has above: 130ml for SANDEN or 140ml for DENSO. This would be the amount of oil that would have been pre-loaded in the compressor when the A/C was originally installed (either as a dealer-option or at the factory).

My mistake. You are correct. The total volume of oil needed for the Sanden system is 130-150 ml.

Can't ask for a more concise answer than that.

Thank you both. I'll be finishing the install this weekend and I'll post back regarding if this fixed my AC problem.

The compressor ended up coming pre-filled with 4.5oz of PAG oil and that was in range, so I just left that and used it.

Put everything back together, vacuumed it, charged it, and it's working.

It's not hot enough to tell if it "fixed it", it doesn't seem much different.

One thing I noticed, the lowest vent output temperature I can get is 50 deg F due to the AC thermostat (if I bypass it with a jumper wire, it gets colder). I tested the AC thermostat while I had everything apart (using the ice water method). It tested OK, turning the compressor off around 40 degrees and on around 44 degrees. I am surprised that I am having 6-10 degrees of heat gain in the air ducts.
