Civiv HB 1.5L engine in Accord
Hi guys,
I just picked up a 1993 honda accord lx and i'm looking to do an engine swap. Now i know most people do the other way around, accord >> civic. But i want to put a smaller civic engine in the accord.
You may ask why? Well since this is going to be my everyday car, i like the idea of shelling out less at the gas pump. The civic HB 1.5l engines are known to have much better gas mileage 50mpg plus.
Also i understand there might be issues with weight to power ratio. As the civic weighs much less than the accord and putting a small engine a bigger car might cause even more drag.
If all issues are negative i guess the right question would be, which engine is best compatible with my car model that will give me the highest fuel effieciency 40mpg and up?
I like to know if this is possible please, and if you've actually done this type of swap before, please post here on steps and overall experience.
All advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

None. That heavy chassis was never meant to to be powered by such a ridiculously weak engine. Hence the reason you never hear of such a swap being done. Let's not even talk about actually getting the engine in the bay and wiring it up properly. Have you even thought of the fact that you might have to fabricate your own mounts? I doubt that there are any aftermarket mounts even available. In fact I'm sure of it. What about shift linkages and axles? I'm guessing you never thought of these things.
If you wanted economy you should have bought a Civic in the first place. The "savings" you think you'd get wouldn't offset the cost of the swap for years, if at all.
Sorry to say but this is a ill-thought out idea.

The f20b was cited by Honda as being more fuel efficient than previous accord engines for some reason. If you go light on the throttle, I could see that being the case. It will also be more fun if you step on it, and a have a better resale value.
